I liked the museum. They have some interesting info. Kind of a small museum but enjoyable! They have a very old organ. There are people who are making tapestries which is interesting for the kids!

We were fortunate to visit on the day of a Christmas open house and especially enjoyed a woman demonstrating weaving. The main room displaying artifacts of the life of pioneer women and tributes to outstanding Oklahoma women was nicely presented. The other display of Women in the Media was extensive and impressive. This well-done exhibit has apparently been there 18 months--but may not be permanent. It offers selected artifacts and much to read and learn about the contribution of these women to media-related fields. The hallway near the restrooms has a a series of panels about the history of women's underwear. My husband spent the whole visit plying the volunteers with questions and had a great time, but I'm not sure he would have found the displays as interesting as I did.

The museum has been there for many years but never ceases to interest me. Each trip (I have been going there for years) has something new to offer and exhibits are changed / updated quite often. For someone who has little or no knowledge of the area, Kay County, Osage Indians and the Cherokee Strip time in Oklahoma history, the museum if a don't miss place to go. You will not be disappointed.

It was interesting to hear about how the selection of the statue was made, see the demonstrations on the looms, visit the hall of women in the media, and the other exhibits.

This statue is very realistic; the face shows the hardships of Pioneer life. I commend the craftmanship. The family learned a lot about Oklahoma from the museum. While in Ponca City visit the Dixie Dog Drive In - best curlyque fries I have eaten and the hamburgers are soooo good.

The Pioneer Woman Museum is dedicated to the many women who helped settle the plains and who are pioneers in their fields today. The museum was remodeled and the exhibits were updated in July of 2013. Don't miss the two weaving looms and other artifacts that women used to turn the wild west into a pleasant place for their families yesterday and today.

The statue of the Pioneer Woman with a young child is well worth seeing. It captures the bravery, dignity, and strength of all pioneer women. But interestingly, the outside newspaper display of thededication of the statue pictured only men. The museum itself is is a disappointment. Containing many of the artifacts of the traditional inside the house or wagan work of the pioneer woman, it in no way resonates with the persona of the statue outside. There is space provided to honor a variety of Oklahoma women who are pioneers, but these are mainly poster displays. Finally the entrance, an attempt to recreate the bonnet worn by pioneer women, is most uninviting and a bit suggestive.

Worked for the museum for several years. It was a wonderful place to learn and tour. Then it was remodeled and restyled and totally degraded

Don't remember alot about it. Don't believe it was a big museum. Pretty grounds.

Not much to see, but it clearer gives you a glimpse into the early days of frontier life.
