There are many activities in the park all year long. Garden of Lights at Christmas, Azalea festival in the spring, Party in the Park rotary wine event. Music events and many families have parties in the out door areas. Walking paths , and children's play areas with splash pad make this a place for everyone.

While Honor Heights Park is justifiably a favorite destination for Muskogee residents year-round, it becomes a prime destination for visitors twice yearly. The oldest event is the annual azalea festival, with thousands of azalea plants, spring flowers and flowering trees providing beautiful vistas from late March through April. Park and walk around to look at the flowers and take photos. But my favorite is the Garden of Lights, a winter spectacular that runs from Thanksgiving through New Year's (a caveat — the park is closed during the daytime from about Nov. 1 until after this festival). Unlike other holiday displays that have commercially-made lighted figures of Santa and his elves, religious depictions, or characters such as Frosty the Snowman, the garden was designed to showcase the park's natural splendor. The trees are wrapped with lights and the azalea plants lighted to mimic their springtime blooming — albeit sometimes in fantasy colors not seen in nature. The figures are things that naturally appear in the park — a deer leaping, doves flying overhead, a fox, a mallard landing on the lake — along with human visitors such as a lazy fisherman in a boat and a man throwing a Frisbee for his dog to catch. The topography of the park makes this a truly special place in all seasons. Enter by driving up Honor Heights Drive past the Veterans Administration Hospital and Five Civilized Tribes Museum. At the Garden of Lights, you pass through an archway of changing lights and a green archway at the top of the hill. You then drive through a snaking drive down the hill and through the park to the lakeside pavilion at the bottom. Admission is free during the Azalea Festival. During the Garden of Lights, volunteers take contributions (optional, of course) to help support the program. Visit either one of those events. You won't be sorry.

If you're in eastern Oklahoma in December, visit Honor Heights at night for the most beautiful holiday lights you'll probably ever see. The line of cars making the transit through the park is long, and some tend to stop to take pictures, making the drive time through the display longer than if you were driving through during the day, but it's definitely worth the time.

Went for the first time after visiting muskogee at Christmas for the last 4 years and it was worth it. Great place to being children and adults. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The christmas light show is a drive through with plenty of lights to look at and then finish off your trip with the blow ups show at the castle. great for couples, kids and just about anyone. boith are free of charge but they do take donations

The lights were wonderful, they covered a lot of ground we felt like we were on a high hill. They also had a place to ice skate and to buy snacks. Cost a donation.

The Christmas light display is awesome and the choice of music synchronized with them was very good. The trolley was taken and driver explained the route and listening to the music would be better after passing the arch of lights.

This park is one of the best things about Muskogee. It is large and is landscaped beautifully. It is a must see during azalea season and also to see the lights at Christmas.

What a beautiful park right there in Muskogee! Who knew! When we visited they were just finishing construction on the new FREE butterfly garden, an attraction that usually costs around $10-$15 per person in touristy places.

Nice park, lots of activities during the year, concerts and a great place to visit for Christmas. Lovely gardens

There are not a ton of things to do in Muskogee, but it is nice to know that there is a year-round park to visit nearby. We did not visit during any special event or anything, but we did take a visit to the Butterfly House in the middle of the park. It was $3 per person to visit the quaint garden and the Butterfly House. The Butterfly House was very small, but pretty. We were told by the lady working in the gift shop that this time of year is when the butterflies aren't as numerous as usual, but it was still a neat visit. We will definitely go back later in the year as we were told that an ice skating rink will be set up around Thanksgiving. As far as parks are concerned- this was one of the nicer ones that I have been to. After speaking with other residents and friends, we were advised to come back during the time that the Azaleas were in bloom, and also during Christmas, when the lights and the decorations are up. We will definitely return.

This is a really lovely park with some nice walking trails. It is a great place to take a book and just enjoy nature. Many largess towns do have such an appealing attraction. If you are in town for any length of time be sure to enjoy it.

drove our motorcycle through the park not knowing what to expect. love the curves on the roads. the grounds are beautiful, ponds and waterfountains we drove through twice and stopped and walked around the second time through. Wish my town had a park like this. hidden in a mountain.

Was back in Muskogee for my mother's funeral and all my immediate family and I took a drive to Honor Heights Park and it was just what we needed. Such a beautiful place, peaceful, calm and beautiful surroundings. The lakes, ponds, picnic areas was perfect.
