this was a lot better than I expected it to be. Nice exhibit of the magazine covers as well as a few other exhibits. They have a short interesting video and a small gift shop. Good stop if you are in the area. Would recommend.

Owner Kim is a very nice lady. We saw the exhibit of Rockwell's work and enjoyed the nice little shop.

We were staying in a B&B right up the road in Arlington, and were surprised to discover the history concerning Norman Rockwell in the area. We took a ride up to the exhibition and were not disappointed. Seeing the history of his many models (very familiar faces that lived in the Arlington, Vt area) really brought his images to 'more' life. Nice place to stop in on your Vermont travels.

The main part is a 15 minute video about Rockwell. Many examples of his Saturday Evening Post covers.Much smaller than other exhibits around the state.

There is lots of information about Norman Rockwell in this exhibition, which doesn't take up much space but is crammed with SO much stuff! We wandered into a small barn, which held small frames that depicted Rockwell's connection to each of the 50 states. Then we went into the main building, where a friendly & enthusiastic host introduced us to the exhibit & put on a film for us to watch. I loved seeing the photos of Rockwell's models as children and as adults. I also appreciated the interviews of models in the video. The exhibit offered a lot of interesting insight into Rockwell's paintings. We spent more time there than we expected & tried to read everything on every wall. Also, try out the apple cider donuts on the counter. They're delicious.

Don't let the exterior of this store fool you--this place is filled with an assortment of delicious VT delicacies and lots of fun-facts on Norman Rockwell and his life in Arlington, VT. As a Rockwell "junkie," our conversation with the former owner was enlightening. We learned lots of new trivia about the paintings and learned about which portrait characters agreed to be Rockwell "models," including the owner's father! We could have stayed there all day! AND the jam we bought was delicious!!!

You might think that a souvenir store would be a not-so-special place deservingof a 5 rating. This is the exception. The owner, Kim is one of the nicest people youwill ever meet and also a Norman Rockwell expert. At first, we weren't interested in the 15 minute video about Rockwell's life in Arlington. But, being a long time Rockwell admirer and some coaxing from Kim, we watched it.I am so very glad we did. It was interesting to see that many of the models are still livingthere and she knows all about the history of their paintings. He did many of his best paintingsin Arlington. Some of the places he painted are still there. The food and snacks there are terrific. We took home 2 homemade pies and they were excellent. Apparently, many people return each year to the area and The Sugar Shack is always a stop. Several repeat customers came in and ordered pies while we were there. You have to give a little bit of notice (hour or so) but it's well worth it. We will certainly return to the area for its beauty and The Sugar Shack will be one of our stops.

Great information on Norman Rockwell's Arlington life. It was interesting in reading the captions that was written by the actual people portrayed in his pictures. This is housed in a store called the Sugar Shack. Neat little store selling Vermont items especially their own maple syrup.

This exhibit included a 15 minute movie about Rockwell. It highlights locals who posed for Rockwell's portraits - some of whom still live in the town. Very friendly & interesting proprietor.

My husband and I travel to Vermont each fall to experience climbing Mt. Equinox and stop at The Sugar Shack!! It is one of our favorite things to do in the fall. We spent time talking to Kimberly and the rest of the guys while experiencing their cheeses, syrups and overall friendly small town charm they offer at The Sugar Shack. My husband and I look forward to returning again and again.

Get some maple products and learn a little about Norman Rockwell. I loved seeing the original subjects that so many of his paintings were based on. The collection is impressive and not what you'd expect at a place called The Sugar Shack.

This was by far one of our best stops, absolutely loved it! His works came to life as we read all the personal connections to people in the Arlington area.

When we discover the relationship between Rockwell and his subjects both in Vermont and Massachusetts, it only adds to the charm and warmth we feel for this most psychologically insightful artist. It's the perfect companion to the Stockbridge museum both to see and learn about the man behind the work. People lined up waiting for a new Rockwell Saturday Evening Post or other expression in much the same way they did for another chapter of Dickens arriving at ports in the previous century. Would it be unfair to either to think of him as America's Latrec, in that he creatively captured the spirit of his age in a generally commercial medium of expression?

This place is loaded with information about the people in Norman Rockwell's prints. Not only is this a tribute to Rockwell and his models, its a great roadside gift shop for all things Vermont. Prices are very reasonable on everything. Make sure you take some time to stop here and chat with Rich. He's a bundle of information and a heck of a guy
