This is my 3rd time using the spa services and the 3rd time it was a horrific experience. I tried to give this place one more chance but I will 100% never go back. The therapist here are awful, I get services regularly at other places and these are the worst. I took my friend for a spa day and she had the same awful experience with her therapist from the massage to the facial to the head massage which by the way gave me the worst headache because she was pressing on my head so hard!!! We were shuffled upstairs for lunch in our robes, it was freezing and they had no blankets for our legs and they were out of every menu item I wanted. It was just one thing after another so that's it for me...I tried 3 times to give this place a chance and every time I had a bad experience!

I have to admit this is my second time to the Safety Harbor Spa...the first time was a disaster and my return trip I was more hopeful, but only returned because I had a gift certificate. I decided to treat (some could argue this was more torture than treat) my Mom (and myself) to a facial. The check-in process if pretty straight forward and they send you around the corner with a piece of paper to get a robe and locker. Once you get to that point it all goes down hill pretty quickly. The man working the robe desk when we were there seemed frazzled (how tough can it be to hand out robes and keys?) and didn't speak English (at least not that we could understand). We asked where we went next and he just grunted and pointed. Off we went trying to figure out where the locker room was. I should point out there is a labyrinth of halls and doors that are poorly marked at least for someone who is not a regular. We finally found the woman's locker room, changed into our robes and eagerly set out for a relaxing sanctuary to await our treatment. Again, I should note there are no personnel or signage to direct you from the locker room. Side note: the locker room is just that, a locker room. It's dirty, dingy and overall nasty. The carpet is so dirty that you didn't dare put your bare feet on it. We finally stumbled upon a little sitting area off the locker room. This room was last decorated in 1984 with excess pool furniture and a hodge podge of crap. Again, there was no signage or direction. Finally, one of the technicians found us sitting here and we set off for our facials. After what seemed like a 12 mile walk (I was on crutches from having knee surgery) we arrived a lovely sanctuary in which to relax. It would have been nice if someone had told us about this (or directed us) so that we could have enjoyed this prior to our service instead of the nasty pool furniture room off the locker room. The technicians doing our facials were very nice and quite experienced but for the premium price that is charged, there was nothing special. In fact, the massage part was VERY lacking and it seemed as if they spent more time prepping and doing things behind us rather than actually administering the facial. I would give the actual facial part of the experience a so-so rating...not the best but not horrible. After the facial we were hit with a barrage of products we should purchase (no thank you) and sent back to the locker room to change and check out. We only learned after the fact that we could have taken advantage of the sanctuary, pools, hot tub and other amenities. Overall this was a complete waste of an afternoon and an even bigger waste of money (had to put $120 with my gift certificate for both our facials). DO NOT book this spa...it's HORRIBLE!!! I've been to some great spas not only in the Safety Harbor/Clearwater area (as I live here) but around the world and this one easily takes last place and worst overall experience.

Did a spa day 'get away' with my best friend, first time visitors. Rated a 2 star as overall because the spa was a decent experience. Had a great deep tissue massage by Brenda. Then a refresher facial which was nice then spa pedicure which was equally ok. The massage and facial rooms were clean and comfortable. The salon which we heard was just remodeled, had ugly sheer drapes separating the pedicure area from the nail and hair area. Most areas had well kept lemon water with spout pourers and apples in baskets. As for the cleanliness of the spa areas, the carpets were quite filthy in the ladies locker room. The indoor pool/ hot tubs, massage and facial and salon areas were not well marked and we constantly had to ask staff the locations of each service. We were not given a proper tour of where the indoor pool and hot tub were and had no idea they were there until were saw them from the outside when we were leaving for dinner in the evening. Then after we paid for the services we were floored when advised that the the staff only recieves 12% of the 18% included gratuity, soooo so gets the other 6%?? As we walked the restrooms near the salon there were ducts and insulation laying out on the floor. Most of the staff wore uniforms but they were not pressed or professional appearing. We were allowed an early check in to our hotel room on the 3rd floor in the terrace building. The view was nice with a large balcony over the pool facing the bay. However, the room was not cleaned well and needed a lot of cosmetic work. Yes, the hotel is old and a little musty. But the furniture and renovations were not from 1925 and not even close to what is the standard for a spa hotel. In all fairness the beds and pillows were clean and comfortable. But this is what we found. The floor boards were dirty and dusty. The floors were not properly mopped and cleaned. The vanity area had a dull walking trail in the shiny floor tiles. The refrigerator and safe were in a chest that was loaded with visible mold. The safe was already locked and not usable. The sprinklers in the ceiling were literally sticking through 3-4 inch open holes in the ceiling. The fixtures in both the vanity area an bathroom sink were rusted. The mirrors were dirty. The crown molding was not even flush with the wall. The room door had no auto shutting feature. Um, this stuff matters and this room should not even be used until these things are corrected. There were no parking spaces close to the entrance of the hotel and construction was being done to make a parking area. Our room was complimentary via my best friends prize from her last years Christmas party. Had it not been a free stay we would have brought these issues up to the management immediately but knowing most companies do monitor the reviews on this website we hope you will take note. We will not be back or recommend your hotel to our friends. It's unfortunate.

I like the fact that it is an old spa with wonderful water classes, like water works, water aerobics and water yoga. but the current owner have mismanaged the place consistently, treating spa members very poorly, raising rates 30% from one year to next and most recently butchering 14 old growth heritage trees and planning to butcher twenty more, destroying the aspect of Safety Harbor and depriving us of oxygen producers, all for a parking lot that will now fry your car when you come. So don't.

Recently had the opportunity to visit this Spa in off season as they were offering a special to bring in people. While the staff seem quite friendly the facility is well below what one would expect for a spa experience. The lobby of the upstairs hotel had walls covered in dust from the AC units and obvious to the naked eye. The spa itself in the men's section is in need of a serious cleaning. The door to the men's Steam room is covered in what appears to be black mold at the base that I could wipe off with my towel. Inside the steam room there was a strange red liquid leaking down the sides of the benches that looked like it has been there a while. I noted damaged walls with holes that needed to be repaired and many other obvious needed repairs that either the staff are oblivious too or just don't care.We ate lunch in the restaurant and had a polite but turse intro to our waitress. I shrugged it off as her Eastern European approach as I have travelled extensively and have encountered it before. In the end she was quite polite and the food was decent.Sadly this resort in no way qualifies as a "spa resort in my opinion" and needs some serious work.

I had a wonderful time at this spa!!!! The staff were wonderful. I do not usually like massages but Beth was the best. My facial was also great with Vicki but you better bring your big girl panties because she won't let your face off easy! She was so pleasant to have. My husband purchased me the "Perfect Day" package and it was a great day and a full day. It comes with a body wrap, a massage, a facial and a body scrub! The place was very clean and very calming.

Recently I visited Safety Harbor Resort and Spa for my brother's wedding. The venue was historic and unique. The food for the wedding was also really good. We stayed at the resort which happened to fall over the 4th of July weekend. We had a blast hanging out at the pool and the tiki bar for the holiday. The view of the fireworks over the harbor was spectacular. Great resort but pricey! Drinks, food, and room rates were high in my opinion. I did not get a chance to use the spa.

Ok. This is my first post ever on Trip Advisor but I simply had to make unsuspecting potential visitors aware of the miserable visit we just had. I am a local - we live not far from the "Spa" as we call it. We stayed for 2 nights over July 4. It's been years since we spent a "stay-cation" here and this is the first time under the relatively new management. What a disappointment (and doubly so because of the potential this place could have for our little town of Safety Harbor). All I can say is the service was horrible! I've traveled all over the country and abroad and I can say I have never had such a rotten experience from a resort staff. The facilities are what they are - the place is old but has a certain charm. The rooms have been renovated but suffer from unbalanced HVAC and moisture problems. My view is that they are falling short on maintenance due to poor management and lack of funds. But that's kind of expected here - and if that was the extent of the shortfall, so be it. But to compensate for that I was expecting good service. And boy were we disappointed. Primarily the food service staff at the pool bar and the lounge. In particular, there was a woman working behind the pool bar barking out orders at the staff who was incredibly discourteous to all patrons. I complained to the front desk and was told that I wasn't the first to complain! I can only conclude she must be a protected family member of the ownership group. She needs to go. Period. And the old dude at the lounge was no better. Probably the most un inviting bartender I've ever met. And just downright rude. Front desk ops were disorganized and inconsistent. It seemed as if "rules" and fees were being made up on the fly. The maintenance staff was ok but passed all blame for issues on management. For example, we had leaks in our bathroom and they told us - "we can't fix this but you should just complain to management and get a discount". Incredible. As a local I really wanted this to be a great weekend. The fireworks put on by the city were good but the Spa was a real disappointment. I will never come back.

If you're planning to have a massage at the spa, and are looking for an intuitive and experienced massage therapist, I highly recommend Ian, as he puts forth 100%. I highly recommend him for either a relaxing or neuromuscular massage, as I immediately felt the difference after the massage and days after. Thanks!

The food was great for lunch. I would eat there again. Went for the day on a Mother/daughter package. The massage was okay. The manicures they did were not up to par. Within a day or two my nails were already chipping. And I made sure I did not do anything that would encourage chipping. My daughters nails were not acceptable as it looked very sloppy and the manicurist did not clean up the polish around her nails even after she was asked to do so. For what our husbands paid for our day of leisure, it was not worth the money.
