Historical Sites Collier County Guide, that's how I found Roberts Ranch. An hour from downtown Naples, or Ft Myers. Immokalee isn't a trip-to that people make except if they're a casino lover. Out Corkscrew or Immokalee Roads. Be pepared for Immokalee if you haven't been there - bit distressed. The county rescued this ranch for us to learn .... what did homesteaders around the 1900s live like especially when you compare to today's reliance on technology. Yes, cattle ranching you may know but how the hands & horses get to the range you'll be amazed. Fire accidents were frequent so cooking, hot water, car preventions will stun you, especially again, you take these things for granted. What did ranchers farm to get cash to 'buy' other staples. I found the several hours there rewarding, interesting to realizing then vrs now.The groundskeeper, Lee, was knowledgeable to the history of the area. Ask him questions: the Seminole Wars (three of them) for example, the Army Forts (Myers, Lauderdale, Dallas (now Maimi), the tribes, life's little things. Imagine: 7 day trip from Immokalee to Ft Myers. Locals may not know the Ranch so have your GPS working. At parking area is the at/in the restored First Baptist Church bldg. Good start there reading the history on the walls; bathrooms yes. Lunch at Kounty Kitchens nearby is good time-out.

The gentlemen, Lee, that gave us a tour was very knowledgeable of the area and the museum as well as the history. It is right in town and easy access. No charge, however donation box available in the old church no longer used for services but has memorabilia from the era.

The Museum tells the story of ranching and citrus farming on Florida's frontier. You can go through 19 historic and interesting structures such as Roberts Ranch house, housekeepers quarters, bunk house, and the barn.
