Woohoo....not all signed participants showed up. Food trucks were great. Goofy Mexican wrestlers were a weird distraction from the event.Allin all....5

As usual for such venues, you can't bring food or drinks in. Very hard to find anything edible, let alone healthy.

I was here for Skate America in October 2014. I have been to more than half a dozen Skate America competitions and this is by far the best arena it's been held in. Skating competitions aren't like other kinds of events, and sometimes the arena staff has trouble adapting their policies. The staff here handled it with aplomb. The seats were comfortable, and they managed the almost impossible feat of keeping the seating area temperatures within a decent range while keeping the ice in good condition. My only complaint is that for a four-day event I would have liked a wider range of food options.

The venue is nice and is great for musical performances. However the staff needs to work on customer service. Some patrons were under the impression photographs were allowed at a recent concert because they had checked with the box office and were told that was the case. I saw several people being told they needed to return to their cars and put their cameras in their cars or they would not be admitted-- this even happened to older people with mobility issues. I fully understand what an annoyance cell phones can be during a performance, but I overheard staff saying they would take the cell phones away if people even pulled them out of a pocket--and these were not people who did it repeatedly. I should point out not all of the staff was like this, many were very helpful, but those who were not were at the extreme end.

I visited the Sears Centre Arena to go to Skate America International 2014. It was easy to get to. Parking was $15 for all day. The arena itself was pretty basic. No outside food or drinks allowed, and bags were checked. There are water fountains. The line for the women's bathrooms at intermission was so long! Food prices were crazy, too ($5.50 for a cookie! $4.50 for a bottle of water!) with very limited selection. I ended up getting the 3 chicken strips with fries for $8 and drinking from the water fountain. Seats were comfortable. Sound was a little loud and difficult to understand.
