One of the major orchestras in the world, you cannot go wrong attending any of their concerts downtown or at Ravinia Park during the summer months. The history of the orchestra, its conductors, performers and musicians is akin to a who's-who in the annals of classical and even popular music. A must see and hear ensemble.

Set at the lovely Pick-Staiger Concert Hall on the Northwestern University campus in Evanston Illiinois. This lovely concert hall set directly on the shores of Lake Michigan was breathtaking to us. We went to a Tchaikovky concert in late May with the wonderful violinist David Perry who stole our hearts away with his performance. The concert hall is set close to the lake and parking is easy as the university allows you to park in their ramp with no charge. Once you arrive onto the parking ramp...you have a wonderful view of Lake Michigan and along the lakeshore. Makes for quite a romantic evening! A short walk from the ramp up to Pick-Staiger Concert Hall and you feel like you are in a wonderful dream! The concert hall is beautiful. Light and airy....large glass windows. As we approached we saw some very young musicians performing in the entrance hall. Upon entering....everyone so friendly and helpful. The beautiful music from the young musicians pouring into your ears....what a serene moment. Then, you are seated in the beautiful Pick-Staiger auditorium....after that.....my senses were delighted beyond what I cannot ever imagine again. What a beautiful concert. The Philharmonic was outstanding, the sound entrancing.....and David Perry on his violin left me breathless. Sigh. This is a must do must see MUST HEAR in Evanston Illinois! Bravo Chicago Philharmonic and David Perry! We will return to hear your lovely sound again and look forward to your 2012/2013 season, as well as your lovely concert hall and Lake Michigan setting and hearing your young students perform for us. The students were wonderful! For more information look into www.chicagophilharmonic.org.
