Been through Statesboro several times in my life to visit college friends and passing through on business over the last decade and it's nice to see someone finally built a decent bar. They have a good selection of liquor and craft beer and a really neat bar set up. I've been to the other places in town many times and always hated paying a cover to enter a tiny town bar only to find terrible music played way too loud and a bunch of underage kids who are incredibly rude. This place didn't charge a cover and had a much nicer crowd as well as nice bartenders. The bar reminds me a lot of an Athens bar in terms of style and product. I highly recommend checking it out and I will definitely be returning each time I have to stop in Statesboro.

One of only bars in Statesboro where people of all nationalities are welcomed. The play great 80's and 90's music. They have a free foosball table, and sometimes the pool tables are free! They even just added giant Jenga to their list of activities! If you want to get away from the people in the bar they have a nice tropical inspired backyard with games of corn hole.

I've had to visit Statesboro several times over the years for events at GSU. The major drawback to Statesboro nightlife has always been that there were only a few bars all lumped together in what they call "The Plaza" and all of them catered to very, very young (like 18 yrs young) clientele. The only other option you had if you are in your 20's or 30's was to go to a restaurant like Millhouse. On my most recent visit I discovered that a new bar has opened right on the edge of campus and it is everything that Statesboro needed. South City tavern is located inside a fairly unassuming warehouse right next to the Stadium. It is huge inside but laid out in a way that makes the space really comfortable instead of feeling like a big open room. There is a beautiful four sided bar located right in the middle of the room, a second bar located on a raised seating area, and an absolutely awesome tiki bar outside. There is also a really neat outdoor stage that they use for live music, although there wasn't anyone playing when we were there. The drinks were all well made and the staff was attentive and friendly. They even have a drink called the Boozy Bear martini that has gummy bears in it! They have a nice draft and craft bear selection as well. As for food there is a small concession type window where you walk up and order. The menu is pretty typical bar food. Burgers, wings, tacos, and such. We had a burger, fries, wings, and spinach dip and it was all very tasty! Overall I would say this is by far the coolest bar in Statesboro and when you are inside you feel like you aren't even in a small south Georgia town.
