My husband loves to disc golf so we stopped to play a few holes. It was disappointing that we had to pay to enter and for him to play but it was not too much. We assumed that since we had to pay that it must have some great things to do...we were wrong. There was a playground but it was very dated and not very fun for older children. We ended up sitting in huge car reading a book until he was done. I will say that my husband lost one of his discs and someone found it and turned it in to the office and they called multiple times to make sure that we knew they had it and said they would keep it for him for when we are back in town in a couple of weeks which was nice. The beach looked like it would be fun in the warmer months.

A relaxing place to spend a Saturday. You can sit on the bench and look at the beautiful scenery. Your kids could place in the water. You can walk your dog around a paved trail. Overall a great place to visit.

nothing much to see, great place to go jogging, if you like to sit and stare at the river go ahead, nice place to chill with friends as well.

Sandy Creek has no fun activity. there is nothing to do, seriously nothing there's nothing for you at Sandy Creek Park. And you have to pay five dollars per car to get into it

This is a very nice place to spend a day in the Georgia heat. There is something here for everyone. Playground and putt putt for the kids, old farm houses/church for the adults to discover, disc golf, and of course the water. If you are into Geocaching there are a couple in the Park and even more in the area. The Jackson County GeoTrail is a MUST.

Clean and friendly beach. Small but inviting. Option to go canoeing or kayaking for $5 per hour and $2 each additional hour. This includes the use of life jackets. Everyone is so nice. There are picnic tables throughout the park as well as grills, restrooms and a boating area The boats are on the opposite ends from the beach so you are able to enjoy the beach in peace and quiet. I love this place. I will return. Oh, there is a $2 per person to enter the park.

Another great place to hike in Athens. Many different trails so you won't get bored. There's a connecting trail to the larger park with a boardwalk.

I never appreciated fully what a fantastic place this was to spend a day, especially with kids. The beach is gorgeous, and rarely crowded. The disc golf weirdos are always kind and polite. Something is always growing. A three-legged deer teaches us a life lesson. There are tons of picnic tables, basketball hoops, and tennis courts. But you'll probably skip em in favor of the hiking trails or Lake Chapman. Always clean, very accessible, and a great way to introduce the kids to nature. And I totally forgot the dog park!

Love this park! Only $2 per person and so much to do. Never crowded. Dog park, can rent private fenced areas for $1/hour. Frisbee Golf for only $1 per person. Lake Chapman is clean (no motors) and so peaceful. Lots of hiking trails. Very cute rental pavillions with stone fireplaces! Basketball, beach, volleball, softball...horse trails! They have everything!!

It's wonderful to have a place where you can take the kids and dogs, where you can swim and jog or have picnics, fish, rent canoes, or just lay around in the grass! They have a great playground, my kids love it. We camp there in the summer and fall. It's a lovely place.

We enjoy fishing on the lake and have used the picnic shelters for get togethers. It is always clean. It has two playgrounds perfect for kids. Have seen the frisbee golf just have not taken the time to do it.

My friend and I hiked the newly connected lakeside trail all the way around and enjoyed nature and the workout.

We love this park and come here often. There are many things to do and you'll have to look on the web site to see them all, but we like to swim at the beach, rent kayaks and paddle boards, fish from the pier, picnic at the far playground, walk the trail around the lake and bring our dogs to play in the fenced dog areas. Dogs can walk the trails as well, but must be on leashes. There are lots of open grassy spaces for kite flying or remote control airplanes, frisbee golf course, horse trails. Throughout the year there are events at the park like star-gazing and a folk festival in October. You can rent shelters for events, including a BBQ pavilion with a huge grill. The park is well maintained and the staff are friendly and helpful. A great place to spend a day with family.

I take my dogs to the private dog parks here and love it since they are anti social and do not always like other dogs!

My church has a picnic here every summer under a big shelter. It is very large and suitable for huge groups. There's a grassy area next to the shelter for inflatable toys and such. Ample parking is nearby. We usually have a golf cart picking up people and carrying them to the venue. Very nice place.
