Having never visited here as a tourist, I never bothered going inside, but recently I had a question about something and decided to go in - what a really nice little shop, as well as knowledgeable staff! For anyone who loves Athens, local or visitor, this is worth a visit, for maps, history, and gifts.

My wife an I did the Antebellum tour outlined in the Washington Post. We did it in reverse, starting at the Welcome Center in Athens.. It consisted of a friendly and instructive small bus tour visiting four of the restored Antebellum homes. The Docent was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the tour sights starting with the Waddel-Brumby house where the welcome center is housed. One of the house was a traditional Greek Revival" home with beautiful columns. The Lyndon house was a southern mansion that was attached the the Athens Art Center. Touring the house and then spending some time looking at the works of local artists was a special treat,

Athens is (was) my favorite city and I went to UGA for grad school, but the new NON-FUNCTIONAL "park-it.com" lots ruined the night for us and many other patrons. Come on Athens! You can do better!!!

A very friendly volunteer greets you when you enter this visitor center which is set in a historic 1800's home. Many brochures available but the home is sparsely furnished with no written descriptions in the rooms so little information available.

Students there were very helpful with directions and tips on where to eat on the south end of campus. Looked nice for the holdidays. No rush. You can take your time looking at brochures. We took a walk on the grounds.

Athens is well-represented by this welcome center. Janet was so welcoming and knowledgable. Her tour was exactly what we needed and the local volunteer, Cal, was so helpful with the tax/living in Athens info. Thank you.

Toured through the museum and small shop. The museum was only $2...Great price. The docent gives a tour of the museum-house and then for a small fee you can join a bus tour of the city, $15-$20. I did not take the bus tour for lack of time but wish I had been able too.The docent/tour guide was so knowledgeable about the museum I was interested in hearing the rest of the stories she had to tell. Would go back again and the next time will take the bus tour.
