great, clean beach. lots of places to eat across the street. parking available as well...HOWEVER, there is limited parking and SOME people like to park IN FRONT of your car and block you in. Luckily we didn't experience this, but the car two cars down from us did...this shouldn't happen lol but it does :P great beach overall and will def go back!

Playa Samil is an ordinary beach. It is like any other beach in Spain. Nice place to spend a summer day, parking place is easy to find and there is restaurants and cafés near to the beach. It is clean and there is no entrance.

Brilliant beach for the kids, very clean and tidy. Food was amazing and we will definitely return.**

Good services, extremely clean and if you get away from the main drag you can be find a quiet spot. Ideal for kids, safe swimming.

I have been to samil beach many times and I really like the beach although it gets packed in august.Early summer mornings are ideal for me as there are not to many people and it is good for a stroll.

Has all the services, lots of things to do. Many people just come to walk along the side-walk, but the beach is also nice and suitable for children. Showers, clean, bits with rocks to go and find sea animals. Restaurants a bit pricey for Spanish standards but ok for international standards.

We stayed in Playa Samil for a week in August 2014. The beach is lovely with a very good promenade to walk along. There were teams cleaning the area daily. There's a market, a couple of picnic areas, a skating rink and a children's pool as well as cafes and refreshment kiosks. On the other side of the avenue that runs the length of the beach area are various bars and eating establishments, including a 24hour McDonalds which was very popular, and appartment blocks as well as a campsite. Some of the side streets behind the beach are very narrow so avoid these where possible. We thought the area went pretty quiet in the evenings and the restaurants were often nearly empty or even closed in a couple of cases. We asked a few locals about this who told us the resort had been hit badly by the economic downturn in Spain and it was a struggle to keep going. It is worth noting that English did not appear to be widely spoken here so you may have to make a bit of an effort to speak Spanish. There was a dearth of local food shops so we drove to the biggest Alcampo in Vigo to shop a couple of times. You will need to show some photo ID to pay by credit card there. This belongs to the French Auchan chain and prices were very reasonable there. It has free parking, cash machines and cheap fuel. At the bottom end of the beach there's a cycle track/footpath alongside a river leading inland which is pleasantly shady and a lovely walk.We liked Playa Samil because it's not like the Eastern and Southern Costas of Spain. It's a place that Spaniards visit and we hardly heard a word of English all week.

The beach is great to relax after a hard night drinking downtown Vigo. Its located about 10 minuts by car from the center and easy to get to. The water is calm and good for families also.

Fantastic beach well worth the visit. Just bare in mind you are not able to use the pools if u aren't with children.

Just 10 mins bus or car from the city of Vigo this beach is a stunner. Clean white sand, dunes at each end backed by trees. The "paseo" has restaurants, play areas and even monitored pools for the children. Perfect for all the family.

Had a lovely walk on the beach and saw the sunset. Absolutely stunning. there was a bar and cafe. We were there in the off season but there seemed to be a water park. I could see one slide there. Not sure of the size. But if you are looking for a big long beach for a walk or a swim. This is a good as any

Water a little on the cold side but the beach is amazing for a walk (as lots of people tend to do around there), some sunbathing or even a walk or jogging in the sidewalk!

This beach is a short bus ride from the city centre and is a beautiful sandy beach with restaurants and cafes and has plenty of amenities for those with kids.

It was very easy to get to via bus. It gets rather crowded but it is easy enough to just walk further in between the staircases or further in either direction of where the bus lets you off. I never felt it was SUPER crowded to the point of being annoyed. There were several food and beverage options. There is a little "food stand" to the left (when facing the beach), after the African market stalls, that has cheaper water (1 euro instead of 1.45) and ok snack options.
