This amazing modern and state-of-the-art museum was conceived and built to house, protect and tell the story of the discovery of Ötzi – the Iceman and it is really a well done and super interesting experience. They seem to have laid out and answered every single question one could have and the exhibits are well designed, informative and are in Italian, English and German. Not only is the entire story interesting, they are also careful to explain how the artifacts are preserved and protected and the utterly sophisticated technology they employ. The local hospital also has a "clean room" ever ready for Ötzi… in case the museum suffers a complete loss of power! The descriptions of the most minute facets of his life such as his shoes or the grains they found, are astonishing and enlightening. The museum is very interesting and the connection it makes from us to our human past is absorbing. Do visit.

I kindly suggest you to visit the Iceman's museum, there are a plenty of very interesting information concerning Otzi life and it's mysterious death! Information are collected in a such modern way, interactive stands help children and adults to learn Otzi story. The museum offers several update about scientific study in progress on the the mummy. After the visit you can relax yourself in the city center.

Hidden almost in plain sight the Museum of Archaeology should really be renamed the "Museum of Otzi" (sorry I don't have umlauts on this computer). It was well laid out and everything was easily accessible. The line to see the mummy was not very long and people were patient letting everyone take their time to see this 5500 year old wonder. There were interactive areas on all levels for children and and an exhibit of others lost to the ice on the top floor. Not the most expansive, it displayed information in a way that made it easy for small crowds to gather around. There was even updated information on the second floor and a realistic model of what the mummy looked like.Absolutely worth the 8 Euro tickets for adults

A very interesting exposition. Definitely worth of visiting! I really admire all the work and effort the archaeologists and other scientists put into research and investigation of Otzi. It is incredible how much we can learn from a 5000-year-old mummy.

What an interesting museum! We enjoyed it so much and couldn't stop talking about our experience for days. We felt it was an inspirational story of scientific cooperation and human curiosity. We walked though the entire museum and then went to see the mummy in the end of our tour, after learning about him from the fascinating exhibition. We highly recommend doing so, it felt pretty intense. So interesting!

My husband had been to this museum a few years ago and thought I would be interested in seeing it and the Ice Man. Well he was right as usual. It was an amazing Archaeologyy museum and the featured exposition of the Ice Man was especially interesting as they did a great job in their displaying of his clothing, his weapons, along with other articles needed for survival for any journey outside your living community. To know that there is a person still in tact after 5,000 years was amazing to see.I would recommend this museum no matter if you are a child or elderly. . . .a must see for all ages.

We researched the story of how they found the iceman and how he ended up in Bolzano instead of Austria- how they keep him safe from thawing out in a power shortage and and we were not disappointed when we actually looked at him. Awesome! A must see. Go prepared.

This was a very worthwhile visit. The museum centers around the Iceman, a "wet mummy," that is 5,000 years old. He along with clothes, weapons, etc. have been studied and analyzed and offered much information about that period of time in the South Tyrol area. The is a very interesting and often interactive exhibit. Worth the visit for all ages.

Value to include this visit with the Bolzano card. Awesome experience to see the actual mummified body close up. Well designed display, so much detail.

Had not heard about the 'Ice Man" before but on a Riviera trip that included a trip to Bolzano the museum made a change from shops and churches. It was brilliant! So well done and informative and everything in English. We were so glad we went there. So worth it.

Great museum of the Iceman found buried in ice for 5,000 years. So many things to see including his skeleton. Lots of his clothes and hunting items were found. He was brought to this museum and is kept at a constant temperature and moisture level. Great afternoon!

Fascinating exhibit of the Ice Man discovered in Sept 1991. The museum exhibits are very well laid out.

Do not miss this! The discovery of the iceman caused archaeologists to rethink the time of the onset of the copper age. His clothing and weapons are far more sophisticated than I imagined. How he died is a mystery and you are invited to draw your own conclusion.
