Took the tram on our last morning in Bolzano. We almost skipped it as we wanted to get on the road, but so glad we didn't Each tram fits quite a few people so it is a little full, but everyone still gets a good view from take off to landing. We didn't spend any time at the top as we really did need to get going, but glad we got to enjoy the view.

This is an utterly wonderful activity for Bolzano. Not for the faint-hearted or those with a fear of heights. Great for photos. Beautiful views of the Dolomites.

i really like the cableway. she is silent, fast, really central (close to the main train station) and with the südtirol pass it does not cost a lot. otherwhise about 8 euros go and back. you arrive in OBERBOZEN/SOPRABOLZANO from where you can start various trips or visit Kaserhof (for Horseriding, Lamas/alpacas)

This definitely isn't for people who are scared of heights - I love funiculars and still found it a little nervewracking! But the views are also beautiful, as are the cute little towns at the top, so it's definitely worth enduring a little bit of nerves!

The "funivia" or cable car or Tramway is spectacular! If you only do one thing in the Italian Alps, this is it. If you don't have a car, this is super accessible from the train station. Siliently, you glide up the side of the most gorgeous mountain scenery. First over vineyards, then over more green alpine terrain. Finally, you arrive at the mountain station in the cute little town called Ritten. You could stay up here on the mountain in any of 100s of chalet guest houses. This ain't Italy!!! But it is. There is also a connecting small electric tram train (streetcar in America) that connects several villages up the plateau. It is really a magical experience.

If you're going to Bolzano you must take the time to go up the Funivia, and even better, take the train at the top to Klobenstein and explore for some great hiking with specatcular views of the Dolomites!

The cablecar station is very close to the city center. We enjoyed the sceneries on the way up and down via cablecar. We could see the city, some cows on the field and the earth pyramides. On the top, you can have a relaxing walk in the surroundings.

One of three cablecars from the city center, a climb upwards takes you to the village of Rittner/Renon. Nice views, and lots of nice walks available

Beautiful ride, nice hike. Well worth doing. I only had a day in the area and am so glad I did this. It obviously doesn't get you into the depths of the mountains, but gives great views of the surrounding area. Fresh air, Alpine cattle, horses, sheep!

The ride takes you from Bolzano to Renon, in some 15-20minutes. The views are magnificent, it's a shame we had a cloudy day!On the top of the hill is Renon a very small and beautiful Alpine village, there are some restaurants and some shops. We walked around took some pictures and got to church in 30 minutes. From there also you can take a train ride that lasts 16min ( we didn't take this ride) and goes every 30minutes.

The weather in Bolzano was overcast the day we planned to take the cable car to Renon, but we decided to go anyway. While we never clearly saw the Dolomite peaks, the ride to Overbozen was fabulous. We also took to train at the top to Klobenstein, and found the whole trip to be wonderful. We ate lunch in Renon, and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. A sunny day would have been a different experience, but even on an overcast day this trip is not to be missed.

While a quick trip up and down would itself be worth the cost, plan to spend several hours or a day touring the charming villages and parks at the top. Enjoy the train to the end and then walk to the 'Earth Pyramids' for an unusual discovery. Several restaurants and hotels offer dramatic views of the soaring Dolomites as well as Bolzano below.

This amazing cablecar ride up to the town of Renon is probably the among the top 3 things to do in Bolzano, especially if you're just visiting briefly like we did. The views from the car on a clear day are probably just wonderful. We visited Bolzano on a rainy day, but even then enjoyed the vistas. It's also surprising how varied the views are during the 12 minute journey. Cost was 10 euros for a roundtrip (adults), which is slightly steep if you're returning immediately. The cars itself are brand new and in immaculate condition, making the trip that much smoother and safer.

We went up the mountains on the cable car, which was on one hand more comfortable than driving up the mountain or even hiking, but on the other hand it also provided amazing views. It was very easy, parking is right next to the base station, and we had to wait for max 5 minutes to get to our cable car. The way down there was a bigger crowd, but probably the wait was not more than 20 minutes. Overall well worth the money and we enjoyed our day in the mountains.

This cable car went on for a lot longer than I expected. We climbed one mountain, then it went on across a valley to another. The views across Bolzano and the surrounding valleys was really good. At one point along the way you get a glimpse of the earth pyramids of the Renon too. It was such a good journey it was a shame it came to an end! It stops right next to a little train station that can take you to other villages in the area. Great trip!
