Great if you are into history, a lovely big site.able to roam around and climb about freely. Very relaxing and not busy.

The site was well worth the trip across the river. There are ladies on the Dalyan side that will row you there and back for about 5 lira. A far better deal than the day sight-seeing boats. You walk through a small family eatery then journey for just over a kilometer to the site. Along the way there are many juice vendors if you get thirsty. The site itself is quite large and I was impressed by the amazing view of the estuary. The cost to get in is definitely worth the value of exploring the site. And unlike many ancient sites in Italy and Greece that are overrun with tourists, Kounos is a more quiet, intimate look into the past.

Huge site although not the biggest or best in the area, but we liked it regardless. Were expected to take 1-2 hrs there but we spent 4-5 hrs! Had to be rowed across the river from our hotel opposite and then a short walk uphill. Well preserved theatre, ruined church, agora, bath house, streets, etc. Steep climb up to good view over lagoon area, river, town. So much archaeology (pot sherds etc) just lying on the ground. (Illegal to remove it though!) Saw amazing lizard - large with blue head. Also saw a tortoise. Signs in English and Turkish .

This is a short walk along a paved road from the other side of the river to Dalyan. A rowing boat ferry is available from the Municipal Tea Gardens. The site is large and has an amazing amphitheatre and baths. There is limited information about the site. Hopefully the site will continue to be dug as it clearly has great potential.

nice bit of historical site to visit but the charge extra to get in after 5lira boat trip not really much to do but worth a visit

Take a rowing boat over from Dalyan to the other side of the river and walk along the road with the tomb's in view to your right. After about 20 minutes you will come to the Archaeological sight of thee old Roman ruins. These are well worth a visit and the view looking over the reed beds toward the beach take you back to the times boats from around the areas would come to trade.

These amazing Roman ruins are a good 15 - 20 minute walk from the small boat dock where we got off. They were very intresting even though it was a little muddy.0

This is a well kept secret and worth persevering to get to it. There are no roads to get there! Only a boat ride from Dalyan and a 1 km walk on a good path from the riverside. The boats run all year, but are expensive out of season unless there are a lot of you or you wait for others to join your group. The ruins will accept the Turkish Muze Card if you have one, or 10TL if not. Stunning location, great amphitheatre and plenty of fallen over temples etc to look at and climb over. If you have given yourself a couple of hours then scramble up to the top of the Acropolis - best bit of all. Also look out for the pomegranate fields on your way to the site and in the autumn the fruit, juice and honey being sold is quite gorgeous.

Where to begin.... Beautiful evocative ruins, including a stunning amphitheatre, unusual wildlife and breathtaking views

Our group took a little row boat across to this amazing site. About a 20 min walk but well worth it. A large site with Temple part recreated and a large amphitheatre. Also much of the Agora has been outlined although still much to discover. Magical site next to the river on a hillside. Delightful if you enjoy archaeology.
