When the Turkish forces occupied Kamianets-Podilskyi in 1672 they improved the fortifications and built the Bastion for defensive purposes. They have been amended and added to over the years but are now ruins though some preservation work has been done. The Bastion is connected to the Windy Gate by a solid stone wall and it appears to be square in shape. It was once used as a warehouse. A couple of centuries ago it must have been an impressive structure along with the other buildings belonging to the city walls. We visited it on a walking tour with a local English speaking guide which would be necessary as there is scarcely no information available in English for visitors.
