The priest Thomas Østergaard Åhllmann is a rare priest, who through his natural empathy and charisma is achieving a small revolution in activating Lutheran beliefs in a normal passive Danish religious environment. He is very popular in his small island constituency due to his great church ambience, brilliant voice and always thought provoking mixture of world events related to the holy scripts in his mass, both among children and adults and attracts a full church for his weekly mass on Sunday's at 1000.The church location is stunning, the architecture is perfectly and typically minimalist and beautiful, while the church yard surrounding the church is a true fairy tale of gravestone texts and flora. As a Dane abroad, to me this is a regular home coming pilgrim destination.

Thurø is one of the Irelands you must visut while in the area. Thurø is extremely beautiful and has one the most beautiful churches in Danish history. The church graveyard is a sight of wonders. I grew up here and has spent many hours in and around the church. The area around the church, but mostly i side the church you will feel a certain history flooding your vains. You must experience a summer day at the church and feel it for yourself. Bring your young once they can also have a great time walking the cemetery see all the old Captains grave stones a sight for the eye that really tell the story of the repsected person who lies beneath it. Det er en lille og super romantisk kirke, med meget smukke ting at se på. Den ligger på toppen af Thurø og det er meget smukt omkring den.

Som barn cyklede jeg ofte forbi kirken på vej til Smørmosen, hvor vi badede. Denne sommer måtte jeg stoppe op for at se Tom Kristensens grav. En særdeles smuk kirkegård, der skrånede ud mod sundet...et fredfyldt sted, et godt sted til en pause på turen.
