Most wineries we visited showed off their buildings, used a video to tell us that wine was invented by Dionysos and that Jesus Christ was the biggest wine maker of them all converting wine to water before giving us some ok-wines to taste. Not so Ricardo Dolium. At Bodega Dolium you will have a real wine tasting instead. The owner Ricardo Dolium will introduce you to some very useful wine tasting techniques and then serve you 10 (yes ten!!!) different wines including very interesting new creations (eco-estate) and some real rarities from his cellar. He will also walk you through the wine making process at the winery, the only underground wine production in South America. In a nutshell: don’t miss visiting Dolium!

My husband and I attended a tasting here on the advice of the concierge. It is a small winery run by a husband and wife team. We tasted at least 10 different wines and the tasting and tour was just the two of us. We received a lot of great insights on the different types of wine they produce and tasted many very high quality wines (like a 2003 Cabernet sauvignon). This experience was unlike any other and we would definitely recommend going.

I've been to wineries all over the world and this was truly an unforgettable experience. In fact this is the first time I've felt compelled to write a review. Ricardo was attentive and knowledgable; but more importantly made the tasting and experience relaxed and unstuffy. It was easy to learn and non threatening to ask questions about any part of the wine making and tasting. The 300 per person charge at the end was a bit shocking at first, but after realizing all the "new" things we learned about winemaking and the process, it was worth it.

A few days ago, my friends and I visited four wineries on a day trip Lujan de Cuyo. By far, the most incredible tasting and tour we had was at Dolium. Ricardo, the owner, is extremely knowledgeable and passionate. He taught us all how to do a technical tasting, something that we had never done. He singlehandedly increased our appreciation of wine making and inspired us to learn more. I highly recommend a visit!

Someone recommended this winery. It is a small very personal winery. The owner took great care of us as we tasted and compared their many wines. We had some of the best in Argentina here. We also had lunch with very fresh ingredients ending a perfect visit. We would love it if these wines were sold in the US.

a genuine visit to a small, family owned winery. Ricardo is an incredible host and is always there to see, welcome and enchant every visitor. You can have lunch (casual, whatever the owner & team prepares that day) with prior notice. Wonderful wines and a unique experience. Open every day including Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays! a Must in Mendoza

We are from California and have been frequent visitors to the Napa, Sonoma and Russian River valleys but we have never experienced anything like the friendly, intimate, relaxing, technical wine-tasting at Dolium winery outside of Mendoza, Argentina. We arrived as the owner, Ricardo, was just finishing an outdoor lunch with his daughter. He immediately greeted us and poured some of his delicious wine for us to enjoy with freshly picked apricots from his tree while he and his daughter cleaned up. He then walked us through a technical wine tasting, which we had never before experienced. He taught us what to look for, how to detect color and taste differences between wines of different ages and different blends and different varietals. He spent more than two hours with us, sharing his personal story, his experiences, the history of his winery and various wine-production techniques. We especially enjoyed hearing about his eco-philosophy. This was one of the best wine-tasting experiences we have ever had.

We just had an amazing afternoon with Ricardo, the proprietor (speaks amazing English), who has taken over running the family winery after his late father started it more than 15 years ago. Wine was some of the best we've tried in Argentina, and he sat with us through more than 7 samples and told us about each process. As part of their amazing family of wines, they have an Eco-Estate line that focuses on producing the most environmentally (but still super tasty) wine possible, which is a first for the region. If you have time in Mendoza, you HAVE to go here and try his wine and hear his story.

Our experience at Dolium turned into a 2.5 hour course on wine tasting with the winemaker. Ricardo graciously walked us through the ins and outs of proper wine tasting, really opening our minds as well as our taste buds. He had us compare vintages (2001 vs 2010 Cab), grapes (2010 Cab vs 2010 Syrah vs 2012 Tempranillo), and terroir (2005 Gran Reserva Malbec (Lujan de Cuyo) vs 2012 Petit Reserva Malbec (50/50 Lujan and Uco Valley)). Truly marvelous experience. We ended up making our largest purchase from Dolium - 6 bottles we had to figure out how to get back to Houston. Luckily, Ricardo had some great advice. They also have a white blend - Torrontes, Sauvignon Blanc and Late Harvest grapes - that is really delicious. Unfortunately, it was sold out...

Coming from California wine country, we were interested in what the Mendoza wine country would have to offer. We were very fortunate to stop at Dolium and have the owner, Ricardo, give us a very detailed study of wine tasting in addition to sampling his wines, one against another of interest with each flight. We learned much more about wine growing, producing, and tasting than we have in any number of wineries around the world. No reservations are required for the wine tasting alone, and the price is very reasonable.

The owner Ricardo took us through a technical wine tasting that was phenomenal. It was interesting, challenging and overall a wonderful experience. We tasted a range of different wines, and broadened our knowledge.I would highly recommend wine tasting at Dolium. Different to any other, much more in depth and Ricardo was an incredible guide.

My wife and I recently traveled to Argentina and visited 3 wineries in Mendoza. We live in CA, very close to Napa and Sonoma so we were quite curious about the contrast with Mendoza. We went to 2 large wineries that were very beautiful with great Malbecs and other wines but we chose Dolium primarily because they offered a lunch with the winery tour. Frederico (pretty new employee) was our guide and he was delightful. My wife taught him how to talk some "American"...it was all good fun. The wines we tasted were all very good. The lunch was perfect and Ricardo joined us for dessert. This was an excellent experience. The big, better known places are nice but so are ones like Dolium where you sort of feel you're spending time with a good neighbor/friend who happens to be really good at making wine.

This winery is very pretty and serves a great lunch (which is best to arrange in advance). The winemaking facilities are literally under the vineyard and available for guided tours. The wines are good, with a number of excellent Torrontés, Malbecs and Malbec rosé wines. Also, a very tasty and unique Tempranillo. What makes it stand out is Ricardo, the proprietor. A visit without him is average. With him, outstanding. His knowledge, passion, and easy demeanor make for a delightful and memorable experience.

We had an incredibly delicious lunch at Dolium. I emailed Bodega Dolium and Ricardo quickly responded with a time we could visit that same day! Ricardo was helpful with directions as well as accommodating with our rather late arrival. Once we got there, we met Ricardo and Aymeric and began our tour of the winery. Aymeric not only explained Dolium's method of wine making but also shared his deep knowledge of wines. He served us glasses upon glasses of Dolium's delightful wines along with a fresh salad and a homemade pasta with sage butter sauce that was out of this world! I am still dreaming of it. And I have been hooked on their wine since. Loved the Malbec, Tempranillo, and Syrah. This was by far the best winery I visited in Argentina. Instead of the rushed, mass production tours I had done at other wineries, they gave us outstanding personal service. I highly recommend visiting this winery and you must try their wines AND delicious food.
