There are several interesting rock formations, but the centerpiece is the meditation rock, supposedly guiding boaters to the island. It is magnetic and as our guide showed us spins a compass in different directions around the rock. Worth seeing as another historic part of the island

Ahu Te Pito Kura is a little off the beaten path, but it is worth a look. The stone formations are quite interesting and if you have a tour guide they will help provide context. Again, this is off the beaten trek, but if you have a guide and they ask if you would like to stop and see Ahu Te Pito Kaura it will be worth it.

We took a walk along the coast and ended at Ahu Tepito Kura. If you can get a local guide to do the same it's a nice way to spend an hour, getting close ups of the coast line and this interesting rock display.

On the way to Anakena this site has the largest moai ever carved or moved, nicknamed Paro, and is estimated to weigh 82 tons. It's topknot alone is estimated to weigh 12 tons! At the edge of the bay is a large spherical rock 3 feet in diameter known as Te Pito Kura. My guide book says that in more modern times 4 smaller stones were placed around the central large stone in alignment with the four cardinal directions. An interesting site but non-essential if you're time limited.

I spent some time touching the rock, a great experience, totally worth it! Very close to Anakena Beach.

This is Ahu Te Pito Kura which is also known as 'The Navel of The Earth'. Close to Anakena and on the coastal drive around Easter Island. Worth a quick visit - best done as s stopover on your way to/ from one of the other attractions or as a drive during a drive around the entire island.

A lot of people talk about the mystical magnetic stone called Ahu Te Pito Henua. When you get here it is a bit of an anticlimax. It is just 5 minutes east of Anakena Beach and beside the sea. Surrounded by a low stone wall and surrounded by 4 smaller stones. Its name in English means Navel of the Earth. Sit beside it for a few minutes and see if you can feel anything strange.

Was quite a nice area but only one decent Moai, we touched the magnetic rock but there were so many people around, I didn't feel any magnetic power from touching it.

Probably one of the sites that you can skip on the island - it does have a very tall Moai but it wasn't restored so not a "must see", especially if you see the huge one at the quarry that was left in mid-carving. We were only here for 20 minutes and at least four large buses came through and went to the "magnetic rock". Really didn't seem that interesting.........

This Moai is huge, actually the tallest on the island, but unrestored. The views of the coastline are fabulous. There is a magnetic rock close by, no indications or signage... If you are there, it is to the left as you are facing the beach... Good luck!

Heavily visited by tour buses, this site has a magnetic rock that some claim has a special sensation when you place your hands on it. A compass or other magnetic device moved about close to the rock surface reveals a magnetic force. If on a tour, you will probably go there even if it is not the reason you came to the island.
