We stumbled across this old colonial inn, one of the few that has survived since the 1860s. I'm sorry we didn't have more time to spend there because we later heard the restaurant serves excellent meals. The building has been lovingly restored by its present owners over the last sixteen years, and it is the home of an amazing collection of second-hand books which spread across a number of rooms. If you would like to read more, check out my blog posts at www.maureenhelen.com

Hampton Arms Inn is a place that has seen better days but it wears its scuffs with pride. With tasty food and a choice of indoor or outdoor dining this place doubles as accommodation and the proprietor has a wicked sense of humour and has festooned the bar area with all sorts of amusing cuttings and cartoons.Furthermore while you are waiting for your food you can peruse the very interesting second hand bookstore that is on the premises. All sorts of tomes, young and old, fill the room to bursting point. This place is a bit out of Geraldton, the main local centre, so makes a nice lunch outing and it is only a little way off the main highway.

Very unlike WA! For those missing the types of old pub you might stumble across in the English countryside then this is a good stop off for you (just don't have too many drinks before getting back in the car...)
