The York Town Hall is one of the more impressive structures in town and houses the Visitor Information Centre. The friendly staff inside were happy to allow us to have a look around including some time viewing the upstairs display. All most interesting and definitely worth a visit.

One of the most impressive Aussie town halls I've seen. A beautiful building and lovingly maintained by the people of York.

This place was just beautifully presented and took me back in time. It would have been a fantastic place to go back in time, the way this town is constructed gives credit to the builders of that era

Excellent condition and really spacious. I can see why it gets used all the time. Great atmosphere and heaps of character. Make sure you go upstairs and stand in the balcony area.

The town hall sits supreme on the main street of this town that time forgot. To the visitor it is obvious that gold brought many riches to this part of the world, but like all mining booms, when it was over the crowds moved on and left the town forlorn and forgotten. It has since been rediscovered by tourists and retirees and, because it is only a couple of hours drive from Perth through beautiful gum forests, it is a good place to visit if you are either on the way to Kalgoolie or in Perth for a few days. The town Hall itself is the size of some of the biggest halls in the cities and is in good knick. It is still the centre of local argument and when we passed through the council was being torn asunder by wrangling and argument. Apparently a con man CEO had fleeced the local rate payers and bankrupted their businesses when they spoke up against him. The town was shocked, but it has happened before and no doubt, it will happen again!.

What a beautiful old building this is. Loved the jarrah floors, balustrading and pressed tin ceilings. Highly recommend a visit to Town Hall.

What a magnificent building the York Town Hall is. I first saw this building in the early 1970s and I still admire it as much now, as I did back then. York is a beautiful little town and the town hall is the jewel in the crown. Inside, to the left of the entrance, you will find tourist information. The day we visited, there was an elderly group doing exercises to music. I would have loved to have joined in.

The York town Hall is just part of a town which feels like being in a time warp. The Hall is quite impressive, but what was outstanding was its beautiful flooring showing some of the fabulous wooden floors coming from the trees of WA. York is definitely worth a visit. After seeing the hall, have a walk down the main street, it feels like walking through bygone years, the signs on the buildings are quite amusing and not very politically correct which is in itself an attraction. York is about 2 hours drive north east of Perth. When driving back, stop at the Olive factory 12 minutes drive from York on the right side. A good opportunity to buy various types of olives and have a try at the olive ice cream. The olive dip also is great.

The York Town Hall is spectacular and is well worth a visit. Usually open to the public during the day so you can wander through for a look. It can also be hired at a reasonable rate and is a great venue for wedding receptions.
