Quite a simple walk up from the car park (300m?) to a large open flat topped stone area with great 360 degree views all around.

The views from mysterious Mt Pilot are breathtaking and it doesn't take much to imagine you are the first person seeing this vista... it is so beautiful. But wait... stay a while and contemplate the Universe. At nightfall see the most amazing celestial luminations show on earth... a must for all Australians. Pity our poor friends in the Northern Hemisphere don't have this view... Ahh the serenity!

I have often lost Lynn on our trips as she heads to parks for some bird watching. On most of our trips to Melbourne, the compulsory stopover is Chiltern and this time, I thought I should see what the appeal is.It's a wonderful park in every way, it is certainly peaceful and the landforms are wonderfulI watched the myriad of birds in the morning looking for water to escape the heat and you do understand a little of why we need an alternative to the cities that are continually adding to the pressures of life.

This was a beautiful walk featuring some significant rock art and sacred places. The walk is steep and rocky. Wear substantial shoes.

A great spot to get away from it all. We drove up the mainly unsealed road and it was well worth the 300m climb to the top. Standing next to the fire watch station all you could hear was the breeze and a blue wren chasing his mate. It was so peaceful we felt like the only people on Earth. The view from here was incredible and the air is so fresh. It’s a place to forget about everything and just enjoy the serenity.

The Mt. Pilot National Park was great - we did the tourist drive (Nearly all of the route was on unmade roads) the Aboriginal walk and the climb up to the top of Mt. Pilot for 360 degree views.
