the big rig... What a fantastic informative place where you learn all about how oil was explored. The staff were helpful and informative. Easily spend a couple of hours there. Shame they changed the shows days in the off season so we missed out on that... Oh well will have to go back!!

Liked the interactive nature, and real life exhibits.Enables you to learn about a key part in Australia's history and how we provide the world with gas and oil

Had seen reviews and had a look around. We enjoyed reading about Roma's history and watching the 20 minute video.

The Big Rig is located within the Roma visitors centre just off the Warrego Hwy on your left heading towards Toowoomba. There is a self guided walk called the "Oil Patch" with signs, some audio and a theatre presentation which is well informative on the history of mining. We did not get to see the night show, so we cannot comment on this part. The visitor centre itself is free of course, good staff with great knowledge will inform you of all the local sights and areas to visit.

Very interesting although night show cancelled with no advice to customers but if that was as good as the day trip I am sure it would have been most enjoyable.

Interesting to learn about the history of the Oil and Gas industry. Night show was a little dissapointing

Enjoyed breakfast at the café. It was lovely and heaps of it. Reasonably priced. Lovely gift shop. Playground for kids was brilliant. We spent a lot of time at the park just behind the Big Rig. Pity the Train was out of action.

My partners works in the oil and gas industry and I've never been interested in knowing too much. But going to the night show was more than interesting. I like to take friends that come and visit. Just a little chilly in winter time. Well worth a visit.

We really enjoyed both the sound and light show and the main display. Very interesting and well thought out displays.

We stayed total of 3 nights in Roma at Starlight Motor Inn, which we already have recommended on Trip Advisor. While we were in Roma we visited The BIG RIG. There are 2 Sections to view..The Oil Patch which is a self guided walk depicting audio panels, Drilling rigs, mining equipment on Show.&Journey through Time, depicting Mining for Oil through time.I would encourage anyone who stops in Roma to visit The Big Rig also at the Big Rig is a Historic Lenroy Hut, which was built in 1893 was hand built and housed a Family of ELEVEN.I would not recommend anyone to stay in Lenroy Hut rather stay at Starlight Motor Inn.There is an interesting Gift Shop at the Big Rig to buy and take home various memorabilia.Enjoy...we did.

We came to the Big Rig on our only afternoon travelling through Roma and unfortunately due to a sewerage problem they were closed. We decided to come back to the Night show and look .. it's only 20 bucks for a family and 32 minutes of your life. We were cold (not their fault!) but learnt a lot about Roma and hadn't realised the gas/oil history. Much better to learn it in this format than in a museum sheet. And the lady running it was really informative about the local area and other things to do. Yes I'd do it again, though with the very small crowd we wondered if it would even be operating in another year.. I hope so.

While the self guided tour of the "oil patch" was quite informative and interesting, the follow up night show was a "con" in that it was just a rehash in movie form of the "oil patch". To be told by the info centre that it was a "must see" after going thru the "oil patch" is just plain wrong. We preferred the oil patch, the movie was ok but the so called side effects were so "mickey mouse" as to be laughable. The host is a failed jokester bordering on an idiot and managed to successfully irritate the handful of people who attended, especially as he managed to arrive 25mins late to open the gates!!

We visited the night show when we were in town for the Easter in the Country. I found it pretty average and more like a government sponsored info documentary rather than something I would expect to pay to see. It was interesting to hear the history of the region but I was expecting more.

It was definitely worth a visit but don't expect too much. The staff were very helpful. Unfortunately the movie theatre wasn't working so we missed that display. Nevertheless, it was an interesting attraction and we enjoyed learning about the gas fields and a bit about the history of the area.

Great Visitor Information Centre with great customer service. Great selection of brochures and the staff were more than willing to assist.
