I have visited this winery many times from the early days when Bassetts ran it until more recently.Well worth a visit and wines are of an excellent quality, worth a headache or two.Hard to believe the original vines were transported from Brisbane by bullock drays and from memory took about 6 weeks to get to Bungil Creek (Roma). Our first visit was in 1969 and our last a few years ago so visit date shown below is not accurate. We will be going back to Roma later this year.

The vineyards suffered in the floods early in 2012 - but they always have stocks on hand. We enjoy their fortified wines, in particular the Liqueur Muscats - which are truly world class. Many of their vines are over a hundred years old - and the winery itself dates back to the mid to late 1800's - a vintage establishment in every way'They offer free tastings, and the 13 bottle dozen seems to be standard.

We had a great time at the Romavilla winery. Don't expect a flash new bar with the latest fittings and the likes, but you can expect genuine country service from the actual winemaker himself. The Rare Old Tawny was to die for! Do yourself a favor and try it!Unlike many wineries, at Romavilla, you are allowed in and around the storage barrels, and are allowed to see where everything takes place. A very enjoyable hour or so!
