Arrived at Buffs after having dinner in Isa. Promptly refused entry for being too drunk even though I was actually sober. Bouncer said "maybe if you actually have a conversation with me". Really? When is that a thing? I imagine it was to see if I was actually sober. I was then asked where I ate dinner, what I ate, how much I'd had to drink. Felt like an interrogation. Next finally let in after I asked to be breath tested to show 0.00 which they didn't have. Told to only drink water as they'd know if I didn't. And it'd "improve my night". Really? I understand they are just doing their jobs but I was the only sober one in my group and felt like I was a criminal. I thought it to be quite interesting how the girls from the races, staggering and swearing were allowed free reign but a sober girl in flats is questioned. However, drinks were cheap.

Firstly, the club itself is good. We visited twice over 4 weeks. Once on our way to the Gold Coast and again on our way home to Darwin. Our first stop was on Saturday 20th December and our meals were amazing and the servings huge. The children's menu includes a soft drink and ice cream and a cute little activity bag to keep them entertained. Our food was so good the kids made us go again on our trip home. This is where the mixed feelings come in. Our visit on Thursday 15th of January was not so good. Apart from it taking more than 45 minutes to arrive despite only 2 other tables in the place when I ordered and others who ordered later than us getting meals first. I ordered the exact same meal as our first visit, as did my son. However it was like chalk and cheese. My chicken pesto pasta came out and didn't look like pesto was in it at all and tasted like it was just a garlic cream sauce. I sent it back and commented that it was meant to be pesto. I received a new one which looked green but tasted the same. In honesty it just looked like it had green food colouring added to a garlic cream sauce! There was no distinct basil flavour to be found. My son's bacon carbonara was a let down too. First time round it was stuffed with bacon and a thick sauce full of flavour. This second time though it was runny and just like a garlic cream sauce with only a hint of bacon through it. Very disappointing. Obviously one chef is amazing here and another...well less than average. Hope you get the amazing one if you visit!

A nice club located in the heart of Mount Isa.We stopped in here at the Boomerang coffee lounge for lunch after visiting the local car show in the carpark. We 2 chicken burgers for lunch which were not too bad, but a little expensive at $18.00 each. They provide a usual range of burger, fish and chips and pizza's for lunch.

We ate here twice, first time on Friday night, good crowd, the meals are huge, except entrees. I mostly order entrees because I am a small eater, but my garlic prawns for $20.00 were a little too small, 6 prawns and some rice. Not good value. On the other hand, my husband ordered some sort of pork chop and his meal consisted of 2 huge pork chops, lots of chips and vegies for around $22.00. He said his meal was nice. The mains were just too big for me, so probably not a good critic here. Second time, we had the roast special on Sunday night, this was $12.00 each, plenty of meat and vegies, not over the top. Was not hot enough for our liking, but food very tasty and good value.
