The car ferry last stop is Southend at Curtis Island after a 90 minute ride from Gladstone harbour and drop off's at 2 other stops. The Island is beautiful with clean beaches and unspoilt views. There is no power or water to visitors, you can get non portable water from tanks.Beach houses and some bitumen roads are about .The ferry drops you off onto a concrete all weather boat ramp. You may be able to book a unit on the the Internet ,most places are privately owned.4 wheel driving on beaches and forest firebreak tracks is great.Fishing and swimming is popular.Turtels nesting and hatching is common in Feburary. There is a small shop that provides a few items and is a local meeting place for a beer or some bbq food. There are camping areas on the beach ,check with Qld National parks

This is a worthwhile activity to do. If you are visiting Gladstone in Queensland Australia You would be wise to take the Curtis Island harbour cruise for a view and very informative look at the developments, progress and expansive infrastructure which epitomises the local and global influences to world markets. Very interesting. All ages on this sightseeing cruise were amazed. But be warned, book early (months), wear a hat, and sunscreen and sunglasses. Bring a camera, lots of pics to take. There is tea and coffee and biscuits during the cruise. The vessel is a landing barge so don't expect luxury however it does provide a venue to a worthwhile experience. Value for money!
