gallagher wines

We visited this place as part of a voucher deal whilst staying at the Hyatt in Canberra. All of the other places we visited were happy to see us and treated us well. I'm not sure what happened here! We arrived, walked inside and there were people enjoying wine and chatting. We were asked if we wanted to taste some wines and I showed my voucher, as it says to do, the host rolled his eyes and said, I quote, there's the cheese have some! The cheese platter consisted of a 1cm piece of camembert, something else that was melted and some labneh in a jar. He then laughed and said that's all that's left and he wasn't going to open another camembert as he only had one left. He then continued to rubbish the Hyatt for their deals and said he offers this to all his customers!!!!! Unbelievable.We politely tasted some wine and left.

After doing another winery which was a poor experience it was a pleasure to visit Gallaghers Wines. Greg was the salesman for our stay (also one of the owners) and he was a pleasure to deal with...friendly, knowledgeable and funny.I am not a white wine drinker so I concentrated on the reds, the Shiraz was my choice although others in our party preferred the Merlot. If you try the sparkling Shiraz Greg will treat you to a chocolate as well because that is how you have to drink it apparently. The Labneh is very tasty and also made on the premises. The jar I purchased of Labneh went very quickly once I got it home and I will now have to make a return trip to pick up some more jars as unfortunately they do not deliver.Overall a pleasant experience and a pleasure to talk to people who know how to treat their customers....other winery's in the area could learn a lot from Greg.
