I have been going to SS for "R&R" breaks for quite the last few yearsan have found if consistently up-lifting and relaxing. There are lots of activities and bush walks for the energetic or you can just lay by the pool, read in the gardens and pampering treatments if you're looking to be spoilt! The food is great, healthy and tasty. Rooms are comfortable and the staff are more than willing to help you. The instructors are very keen and always ready to advise and assist.I am going down there again shortly for a five day package and can hardly wait!

I love going to Solar Springs for a refresher every now and then. But this time things were a bit confronting.Recovering from a big operation, my surgeon suggested plenty of water-based activities and where better than this beautiful, heated, indoor pool at Solar Springs? Every morning when I was doing laps there appeared several of the local village men also 'doing their thing'. It seemed to me I was an inconvenience to one of these Budgie Smuggler clad fellas. Considering the ratio of female/male guest staying here is about 15:1 there are a lot of men in the pool early in the day and it's intimidating to in-house guests. Could the briefly clad fellas come later - perhaps during guests breakfast time? The food is still a major drawcard for the retreat, Wayne has long gone, but the new French chef is outstanding! The meals were beautifully presented and delicious and the dining room staff were great.I made some lovely friends and had some great walks and spa treatments during my stay in the Cottage. The gardens are very well maintained and the place is immaculate and very reasonably priced all things considered. The only other issue was with the dangerous 'crazy paving' at the entry, could be an OH&S issue if it is allowed to deteriorate further.

We ate at Solar Springs with friends, the food was amazing, so very well presented, service was great. The Chef and staff operated as well / or better than a top restaurant in Sydney/Melbourne.Well done to the chef, and service staff. Highly recommend this experience to everyone.

I have just returned from a weekend with friends at Solar Springs. The resort is well equipped the food beautiful and the environment so relaxing. Sue our host was wonderful, nothing was too much trouble. It's the third year in a row we have been - can't wait for next year!!

I recently stayed three nights at Solar Springs to celebrate a girlfriend's birthday. They made us feel so welcome, the food was amazing, the facial, massage & pedicure all included in our package was just so enjoyable. We really "chilled out". At Solar Springs they offer stretch, yoga & fitball classes, and they have a gym. You can do as much or as little as you like, they have an indoor pool & spa, which was very clean & an outdoor area to lounge in.There is also a small wine list, where you can order wine with your dinner. It was a lovely break. and I would highly recommend Solar Springs to everyone.

I have travelled many times to Solar Springs and always have an excellent time there. The food is outstanding, the beauty treatments are out of this world. It is a wonderful place to go and relax and re-connect with yourself. Loved it!!!

If you want to experience a health retreat, that you can totally recouperate and relax. Than this retreat is it. After many years of staying at various health spa's around the world and having experienced 5 star luxury, this is a true down to earth experience. Excellent service from everyone.I was made to feel quite special as a single guest. The cuisine of the resort is world class and the presentation at lunch time absolutely amazing. I did not get the chef's last name ,but Nadia cooks the most beautiful and visually presented food that I have tasted on my journeys throughout the world. The staff are all very friendly ,and I can only highly recommend a stay in the so called " Southern Highlands"Sue

This is a relaxing, or exciting, place - whatever you want it to be.Beautiful bathrooms, all recently renovated. Lovely grounds and the most delicious food, prepared by Wayne, the one armed Chef, the best in the Highlands.Go and enjoy!

I was actually last there in 2008 and before in 2006 - I absolutely loved it both times. A previous reviewer stated the food was simple - far from it - I think the meals are gormet. Yes they are mostly vegetarian as it is a health retreat - I think they have fish & chicken in the evenings and red meat once a week. I love the food. I really like the gym in terms of classes and instructors - they are really good at giving you the right amount of attention in the right areas...love yoga, pilates, bootcamp. They also lead groups into the national park for bushwalks - this is sooo lovely. I really enjoy the meditation. The grounds are gorgeous just to wander through. The pool is fantastic for swimming laps, aquarobics and also lying in the sun...oh and they have this spa which has the most amazing view into the bushland and hills. Now the treatments...I've had a load of them swedish, remedial, shiatsu massage, relexology, facials, body scrubs - all of them delicious. What else....oh the demonstrations...I've seen a pilates ball instruction, shiatsu massage, naturopath, nutrician. And last but not least the staff...they are sooo welcoming and lovely which really is the icing on the cake espcially when you trawl in from a busy week of work in Sydney/Canberra. Anyway thats just my thoughts on the place.....don't take my word for it.....go there....it is seriously the best $$$ I've spent!

I write this review based two visits of wife and I in 2000 and 2002 and one for my sister in 2003 so my info may be out of date but having read the other review I felt obliged to add my experience. If it has changed from what it was, I ask management add comment please. We enjoyed ourselves each time. My sister did as well. What we enjoyed was this is genuine Health Resort not a pretend spa/massage centre. By this, I mean clients are often there for a real physical and mental rebuild. I know we were. Thus many are stressed out, worn out, some recovering from trauma related to illness or fatigue. The age group is older and predominantly female but not exclusive. i.e. divorcees, cancer survivors. So it can be confronting to someone who experts a party resport and day spa experience. All of the above is the reason we went to Solar Springs. To recharge after a huge work stress from two professional careers. For my sister to recover from the suicide of her husband.Yes the meals are simple, mostly vego fare. The bushwalks ambles. The pool not luxury but indoor and heated. Mostly people simply rest and relax. It is very mellow. You wear bathrobes awaiting treatments as common. Group meditation fun, although I could not get into the deeper level. At no time did I feel any dodgy therapy or my wife. The all inclusive basis is great. There is little to do in Bundanoon outside of the resort so lie back and mellow out. We went back twice and wife who is serious massage and spa devotee gave it thumbs up. Don’t feel it is negative but health retreat/resort that check your overall health with blood counts and O2 readouts is not mucking about.I hope this helps. This was all before kids. Don’t take kids.

Shiatsu is an oriental therapy closely related to acupuncture where the therapist applies pressure with fingers, palms, elbows and feet along pressure points to improve energy flow, circulation and flexibility. Shiatsu is performed on a futon on the floor on clothed clients and it is common for therapists to work on the spinal area.In 2009 46% of our guests were returning clients who would not choose to holiday with us again if our therapists ever acted in the way described. Occasionally clients who seek out professional advice about personal or medical issues find the advice that they receive confronting.
