Were at Bathurst for five days and having read reviews previously was keen to visit Stone Pine. visited the local information centre to get some directions and was told that local wineries don't really open to the public and they didn't think stones was open., but we rang anyway and left msg but no answer. The information centre then recommended we go to Dan Murphy's to buy whatever liquor we wanted because local wineries don't really open to the public. ?? strange.

This little distillery is well worth a visit. Run by a young couple who are very knowledgable and friendly. A good explanation of how the distillery works is given and you can sample a variety of spirits and liqueurs. I intended to purchase one bottle of 'something' just to support a beginning venture, but it was so good I came away with 4 bottles of delicious drinks! Make sure you visit!

A trip to Bathurst would not be complete without visiting Ian & Bev Glen at Stone Pine. Born in Scotland and passionate about what they do, Ian (in our case) took us through their range of spirits and liqueurs. They use high quality raw materials and keep processing to a minimum - and it shows in the taste. I don't know that I will ever be able to drink another gin after this one! The limoncello took me straight back to Capri and the limecello is also great as is the berry liqueur (seasonal) which is good neat, in sparkling mineral water or on ice cream. It's a short drive south out of town, not far from the Macquarie river.
