I have been traveling with family and friends to Bermuda for 20 years. One of my highlights each year is to get together with our friends and go over to Port Royal Golf Club in Southampton. Port Royal is not only home to the PGA Grand Slam pitting the winners of the 4 Major Golf Tournaments in the world, but is absolutely stunning for a round of golf. The finishing holes are quite difficult but the vistas on the ocean are spectacular. The clubhouse and Pro Shop are excellent, with a terrific menu, bar, outside patio with vistas that are right out of a book of paintings. It is truly a magnificent golf venue and I would highly recommend playing there to anyone who is a golfer looking to experience a truly remarkable golf course.

Just spent a holiday in Bermuda with my wife and we played 4 games of golf at Port Royal. I will not say who returned the victor but he was male. What a great golf course. We had read reviews before we went and there were some mixed feedback on difficulty of course etc but after playing there can only say for us not to be missed. Holes with panaramic views, great greens good selection of layouts. Over water, dog legs, elevated greens etc and the greens were excellent. We took a buggy and best way to play the course. The 16th is the feature hole and against the wind was tough and then was fun to play two days later in calm conditions. Can only thank all the staff for being helpfull and pleasant and really enjoyed or golf. Meals at the golf club are also excellent and menu is of a very high standard. Thank you all at Port Royal for a great time.

Excellent golf course with some amazing views. Start out a little flat but turns into a hilly golf course after the 7th....if its a little windy this golf course really becomes difficult. If you can par the last four holes you have played some good golf

Loved this golf course. Challenging to play but with amazing views. We played twice and would definitely go back. The notorious #16 is worth it alone. We actually preferred this course to Mid Ocean and a better price.

Spent 3 days here watching a handful of golf pros play, but I played this course 3 years ago and it is just as great as I remember. I didn't play this time, but the course layout and views are spectacular. Hilly terrain, tough bunkers, ocean views, wonderful experience. If you're looking to play golf in Bermuda, this is place to go! (Several locals I spoke with highly recommended Riddell's Bay too).

I played this course recently in what my two playing partners who were veterans here, said was the most benign conditions they had ever seen. It was a fantastic day with virtually no wind and perfect golf temperature of about 74 degrees. Still the course ate me for lunch. Even so I would replay it in a heartbeat. Here's why.1. It is in fantastic condition - the PGA Grand Slam was played here just a few months earlier and the course has been designed and maintained at standards expected by the pros. The greens are fast, but fair - my problems were not with the greens.2. The scenery is awesome. The water is in view or play for enough holes that you feel that it is an oceanside course. There are huge changes in elevation with a number of tee shots involving either serious drops or serious climbs which makes club selection not an easy task. Where else are you going to find an 18th century fort in the middle of the course. # 16 is simply a crazy good par 3 you will probably remember for a long time.3. Course design - This is a Robert Trent Jones Sr. course which means that it has a lot of doglegs that make for great holes if you play them right and misery if you don't. Visually the holes look great from the tee except #12 which is a blind tee shot and I hate those. I found great similarities between this course and the RTJ courses at Princeville in Kauai. He has done everything you could do with a magnificent piece of undulating seaside property in very difficult terrain.4. It's fun to play where the pros play. It's unfortunate that this was the last year for the PGA Grand Slam here. It's always neat to walk into a clubhouse and see the photos of past winners or in this case pictures of Bubba Watson, Rory McIlroy and Martin Kaymer, the 2014 major winners on the wall.5. I want revenge - the reason for a terrible score here is very simple - the greens are guarded by some of the most fearsome bunkers I have ever seen. Everything rolls to the bunkers. You think you've hit a great shot that will bounce onto the green and it funnels into a bunker. Once you are in a bunker the lips are so high that getting out is no easy task. You will understand why the pros are so good playing out of bunkers when you play here. 6. It's a great place to have lunch . Sitting on the outdoor patio looking out at the ocean and the course one could be forgiven for not noticing the food, but it's good here.Worth the big bucks to play.

Fabulous layout, great condition, terrific staff, all and all a class act! The venue for the Grand Slam of Golf and the Women & Golf Bermuda Trophy, not hard to see why this is Bermuda's top golf tournament venue.

Excellent Course. Some very challenging holes but that's what golf is all about! Very helpful and friendly staff at golf club.

Great ocean views! The course was recently renovated and is still in great shape. I played it back in 2006 and noticed the change in some holes. Number 16 is the signature hole and is a monster if the ocean wind in blowing at ten miles or more. I recommend that you bring plenty of golf balls.

This was the nicest course we played. The bunkers were definitely in play and the wind, gusting to 50K, was a major factor. The grass is playable in most parts but watch for some tricky holes and watch the blind shots. Take the time to look ahead.

we played just after they aerated the greens so that was a bummer, but the views from back 10 holes on this course are breathtaking.

We had played this course several years ago, and remembered it is quite niceThe green fees for $180 per person. There was no drinking water on the cart, but the refreshment girl to come around so we were able to buy some. They grass in the roughest very fluffy, making it very very difficult to find a ball that has rolled off the fairway even a couple of feet. The fairways are narrow and hilly so this happens frequently. We wasted a lot of time looking for balls that should have been easy to find. There used to be gross of trees all around the course, but unfortunately hurricanes have destroyed most of them. The condition of the course was very good. The course just isn't what it used to be. We found tuckers point golf course much more enjoyable

Port Royal, one of the world's top public golf courses is a "must" for golfers visiting Bermuda. This track comes replete with killer ocean vistas, and killer roughs of a thick turf aptly named for this Atlantic archipelago. Best to keep your ball in play or bring an ample supply as the native Bermuda grass will devour balls that don't land "in the short grass". Your rewards to compensate for any frustration this course presents, are some of the greatest ocean-view holes in golf. Port Royal's signature 16th hole is a par 3 that will challenge all golfers, no matter how low your handicap. Your tee shot needs to fly a deep gorge and an ocean inlet to land on a postage stamp green. Regardless of how you score, you'll be talking about this round at the 19th hole as you sip a local Bermudian favorite called A Dark & Stormy.

The course was in beautiful shape. The rough was murderous, you could drop your ball at your feet and not find it! Awesome. The course is fair and can be played by any level golfer. The scenery is amazing and is one of the most beautiful courses around. The rates at $100 per golfer on Monday cant be beat! We take our fall cruise specifically to play and dine at this course. Danny and his staff are a joy to do business with!

Great golf course. The first 6 holes are inland, but once you get to the 7th hole, it's outstanding. The views are spectacular. Worth a visit.
