We went on this tour with another couple we were traveling with. Ricky and his team did an incredible job of showing the ropes of the river with large cliff jumps, repelling, natural watersides, waterfall jumping, bouldering and a little hiking. We got really wet, along with our gear, but we were prepared. Bring shoes with good grip when wet, water and snacks. If you bring a camera ask for or bring a water proof shoes, water and snacks. If you bring a camera (recommended) ask for a waterproof box. You will be testing your comfort zone with adventures, but Ricky makes sure you are safe. We had a blast!

My cousins and I are from Puerto Rico, have lived there all our lives & have been going to The Yunque since we were little. We had never, however, experienced it the way we did on this tour! It is incredible, very intense, but AMAZING!! Ricky and his crew are very experienced and know every nook and cranny of the area. They are very responsible and know how to create an environment that is both extremely fun and safe. I recommend it to any and all adventure and thrill seekers like us because it is the full package and an adrenaline filled experience!

I have been to PR many many times!!!!! And done many tours on the island. This is by far the best one I have ever been on. Ricky is very experienced and his team is well trained. I would do it again any day!!!!

Spent the day climbing, sliding, jumping, rappelling with Ricky and his 3 helpers in the rivers Icacos and Cubuy in the south side of El Yunque. I live in PR and wanted to take some friends from the USA in an adventure. You need to bring the proper shoes and clothing and expect to be exhausted at the end of the day. The great thing about Ricky was that he provided options; my kids ( 25 and 28) wanted to jump into every pond, ,slide down every rock, and my husband was not interested.Ricky provided alternatives; a path next to the river for the non thrill seekers while he made sure the younger ones did not miss anything .Ricky knows the river very well and you feel very safe with him and his staff. He never rushed us and allowed and helped the young ones to jump from the rocks as many times as they wanted. One of the prettiest sights in Puerto Rico!!! I would highly recommend this tour!!!

Loved our private, full day adventure in the south end of El Yunque. Guides were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. It was a fantastic, fun day for my wife and I. Highly recommend for those that love nature and a little adventure.

We spent about 8 hours in the El Yunque, slipping and sliding and climbing, tip toeing around slippery boulders, cliff jumping, rappelling, cliff diving.... It was one of the best experiences of our lives that we will never forget. Thank you Ricky, Ferdinand, and company! you guys were awesome! The guides did an amazing job making sure we didn't kill ourselves about a hundred times (haha)- they obviously knew this place like the back of their hands and I trusted them completely. Note: not for the faint of heart! You will have to push yourself beyond your limits, but it is well worth it :) P.p.s. was very grateful for my camelbak and gopro with the diving case, as well as the full body under-armour gear. Wish I'd rented the boots they had- would've been less slippery. (If you don't have canyoning shoes, I recommend renting their boots)

Only for the true nature lovers!!! I have been on many tours throughout the island (as I am a local) and there is no comparison with the level of service and excellence that Montaña Explora provides. I don't think I've ever met anyone with as much knowledge, experience and amazing attitude. Not to mention that the places we visited were out of this world.

If you love nature and live for thrilling adventures then this tour should be your first choice when you visit Puerto Rico. The tour is the most compelling proof that Puerto Rico’s nature is up to world standards as you will interact with miles and miles of crystal clear waterfalls. Our tour guide, Ricky, is a guy with tons of personality who will make you feel at the edge of you seat. The place is a hidden gem in the Caribbean with no signs of pollution, so prepare for the time of your life!

When Ricky started handing out the helmets , knee pads, heavy gloves and life vests we started to wonder what we had gotten into. When he packed his big machete we wondered if we should run. We were so glad that we stuck it out as Ricky is a wonderful guide and the two other guides that went along - one female and one male- demonstrated everything we were going to do and they all made me and my daughter feel that we were in good hands. I could tell that they had our safety in mind even though they did a lot of things to entertain us and make the trip fun . Be aware - you will have the chance to hike through a very rough trail in the forest , crawl over and under large rock formations, hike up and down a waterfall and go under the rushing water of the falls. There are quite a few other adventurous things we learned and tried but I don't want to give it all away. Ricky has 4 and 6 hour tours and believe me we thought 4 hours was plenty although he actually spent more than 5 hours with us with setup and drive back to the starting point. The landscape and the views are gorgeous and Ricky takes a lot of photos they he gives to you for free. Such a great extra. Highly recommend as a once in a lifetime experience.

I took this tour with some friends and it was A MA ZING. Master Ricky and his crew showed us places where you wouldn't be able to venture by yourself, walking through very narrow paths, swimming or jumping in the cascades. From there you witness breathtaking landscapes that only few people can see.The guides know the place like the back of their hands and are still able to enjoy it. During all the time we felt safe and in the hand of a very professional and capable team.Last detail during the tour Master Ricky will take zillions of pictures of the team and a DVD with all this is included in the tour fee.

I live in the British Virgin Islands and have traveled "through" Puerto Rico countless times. So, when I had the opportunity to fly over for the weekend and visit with my brother I jumped at the chance. We only had 2 days and one of them was spent with Ricky his son Gabriel and Luiz from Montana Explora. So happy to get off the beach and see the "real" Puerto Rican Forest, rivers and waterfalls. It was obvious that safety and personal service are paramount with Ricky and Luiz. First of all YOU MUST USE the shoes provided for by the guides, I don't care what special hiking shoes you have if you do the "canyonning" tour you will be wet all day and need these special shoes. My brother and I were the only ones on this private tour and Ricky and Luiz got to "let their hair down" a bit since we did not need "constant attention". Needless to say what we did that day was AWESOME and at times quite "Extreme". From rappelling down waterfalls to a 27' vertical leap into the water from top of waterfall. It was not for the faint of heart, definitely a full day trip as we were out on the trail by 1000 and did not get back until about 5 pm.Ricky and his team are "top notch" and without a doubt a MUST DO while in Puerto Rico. We saw other tours out that day (we went right past them and through them) and it was quite apparent that we were being led by the most proficient, knowledgeable and professional tour guide that day. Take a day and see the "real" Puerto Rico, with the "only" Tour Operator Montana Explora. We are already looking forward to our next visit where Ricky and crew will take us up some of the other peaks of El Yunque.

This is my second trip with Montana Explora in El Yunque and I will keep coming back for more! Ricky, Ferdinand and the rest of his crew are so amazing! While they focus on keeping everyone safe they also are tons of fun, hilarious and are sure to give you a great time. You will enjoy exploring Rio Cubui by hiking in the rain forest, river trekking, rappelling, cliff jumping, water falls, swimming, whirlpools, body rafting, sliding, petroglyphs and other unexpected surprises. In March they also took us on a kayaking biobay tour in Fajardo which was beautiful and fun. They also take lots of pictures and give you a copy. Expect a few bumps and bruises along the way in the canyoneering tours, but just consider those warrior wounds! This trip is well worth it and I can't wait for another experience with Montana Explora.
