Location and view? WOW! It is Great! Food was Ok, but service??? F!! From welcoming to the restaurant to checkout, everything was just awful. The tourist couple that were next to our table, they left the glass water and cancelled their order! They have to focus on Customer Service if they want to survive.

Another drink that will knock your socks off. Several types of rum in side a coconut whip cream and cinnamon. Oh and the food was quite good also. I would recommend the chicken mofongo. Oh and watch out for the crabs that like to climb up the outdoor deck.

The bar is wonderful and has lovely live bands who perform and great ocean views. The passionfruit mojitos are so wonderful!

First of all, amazing location. Beach all around this hotel. Dinner right beside the water and sunset. very casual, so you can feel right at home. Breathtakingly beautiful. Rooms are modern, clean and comfy. Service is excellent, anything you need they got it for you. In love with this place.

I've never felt the need to write a review before, but this place was truly significant.Loved the staff! The constant breeze coming off the deck through the La Playita restaurant/cafe, across the lobby, hotel and courtyard was addictive. From one side gentle waves lapping on the deck to the other side, the beach. The La Playa hotel is immaculate and the staff is attentive accommodating but never obtrusive. They allowed us to fully enjoy everything as if it were our own. I cannot thank them enough. We came as family and friends for a wedding. We are all now committed to making this an annual retreat every February. For those of us who stayed at the La Playa, we were truly spoiled, and for those that stayed elsewhere hung out with us at the La Playa the whole time. We had our "Meet and Greet" at the La Playita restaurant and it was perfect. Thank you Alberto and your amazing staff. Staying at this hotel will be the best decision you could make coming to Puerto Rico!Terry W., Boston, Ma

We went to La Playita to eat the place is not much to look at but the food was absolutely fantastic. I had the Moifongo con Churassco and Chimichurri Sauce, it was mouth watering. The bar was excellent we has the amazing Coco Frio and there refreshing Sangria. Great service. Owner very attentive to his patrons!

We decided to try this restaurant because it was within walking distance of where we were staying . It is at the back of a waterfront boutique hotel. The views are beautiful, however the whole experience, for us, was not. As we have a toddler, we arrived early for dinner. We ordered almost immediately, however, only my husband and daughter's food were bought out to us. When we asked about my order, it became evident that they had lost my order. My food took another 30-45 minutes to come out, during which time my husband and daughter had finished their food. The waiter was not at all apologetic, and basically said I had to wait, as a large group had just placed an order. We complained to the manager, but all he said that he could give us, was free desserts, but as this dinner had already taken more than two hours (with a toddler who by this stage was completely over it), we had to decline. While the scenery is beautiful, I would never go to the restaurant again. The food wasn't that great, and the service, in our opinion, was ordinary.

We went to La Playita restaurant the first night of our stay in Puerto Rico. The restaurant was a short walk away from where we were staying, and it's on the waterfront, in an unassuming hotel. It was raining, so the tables closest to the water were abandoned. We were seated immediately and ordered waters, Coke, and appetizers, which consisted of fried farmer's cheese and sauteed mushrooms. It took a very long time for the food to arrive, and then we received the mushrooms and calamari, which we didn't order. After returning the calamari, it took another twenty minutes to get the second appetizer. Both appetizers were relatively good. For the main course we ordered mofongo (mashed green plantain) and mine was with chicken. I ordered it with garlic sauce, and asked to have a small side of the second sauce, which is tomato based. Around twenty minutes after our second appetizer we received our main course. Instead of the garlic sauce, my mofongo arrived with the tomato sauce. The waiter said he would get me some of the other sauce to try, which never happened. The chicken was rubbery and tasted like the artificial chicken sometimes served as a cheap, frozen patty infused with barbeque flavor. We also noticed that no one ever refilled our water glasses and there were no condiments on the table. After noticing that our waiter was spending an exceptionally long time in the kitchen, we asked another waiter for more water and some salt. It seemed that our waiter had the interior section assigned to him and the only exterior table assigned to him was ours, as all other tables outside had a different (and very efficient) waiter. We ended up spending two and a half hours for dinner that should have taken an hour less. The restaurant is not cheap, either. If you order an appetizer, a mojito, and a main course, it will come to approximately $42 per person. It seems that the restaurant relies heavily on the view. On a dark night with persistent rain, the view stops being a factor, and one can't help but notice the lighting that is too low, with the background of a random radio station that happened to play nineties music. Or maybe it was a CD coming from the bar area. I'm not sure. Note that the tip of 15% is included in the final bill automatically. Aprevecho!

Hotel La Playa has gone corporate. Since it's inception into the corporate world, La Playa has lost its flavor and great customer service. First of all....THERE IS NO HOT WATER! The hot water pressure is so low that that the trickle effect makes it feel like a Chinese water torture. If you don't mind bathing in cold water then this place is great. Besides that, the rooms are quaint with flat screens and great air conditioners. The hotel is pretty clean and the staff admirable. Overall I give it a 3.5.....only because I love hot showers and the cold showers killed my swag. If you decide to stay there....get the bigger room with the king sized beds. They are oceanfront and worth the price.

As a concierge I made reservations for myself and a friend. The staff is terrible, they looked lost or without any experience of customer service. We ordered the cheapest that I would think on their menu which are burgers and fries and soda. Ended up paying $48.00 which I think is way to high for this kind of meal. The waiters should thank God that on the bill the tip was already included because they only visit our table twice; one to bring the food and second to bring an extra soda that I screamed for. It is a shame because I continuously was sending guests to this location for a quick bite while they were enjoying the beach. Never will recommend or visit this place again. Two positive things: at least they know how to grill a burger and the person that was outside the property helping with traffic, was super friendly and found us an awesome parking spot.

I am a single mother that was looking to get away to Puerto Rico on a budget. I had made a reservation, then after reading the reviews on here I became very hesitant to say the least. I expected sub-par conditions, and thought that it would resemble something from John Candy's movie Summer Vacation. When I was waiting for my connection in the airport I called the hotel and spoke with Linda. Linda was so accomodating and assured me that everything would be in order because of my special medical requests. When we arrived at the hotel, we were greeted by Julio a member of the staff. Julio came out to the taxi and assisted me and my three little ones with our luggage. Julio checked us in and then showed us our room. There was diffinitely access to the beach, and just a few paces from the hotels main entrance. The room was nice, clean, and serine. I was so pleasantly satisfied. When ever we needed anything the hotel staff was more than accomodating. I wanted to rent beach chairs, Linda provided them to me at no charge. We came from the beach and Julio was there to rinse the sand off of us. The breakfast bar was simple but served its purpose, the view from the patio is amazing. Linda provided me with such good suggestions and directions I ventured out to Old San Juan. I felt safe and secure. I can't wait to go back. Everyone is going to have their take on their visit. I can honestly say that for everything that the staff does that they really didn't have to do I thank them. I wouldn't think of staying anywhere else. I find holes in the cliche 'you get what you pay for.' I didn't spend much in comparison to the other hotels, but my stay was priceless. I do agree that the food prices were higher than I would have guessed and yes the tip was included, but the reasoning behind that is probably profit margin. Thank you so much Hotel la Playa, Linda, and Julio. I will recommend you to all of my friends.

The open air bar and restaurant at sea shore is very relaxing. The staff is attentive, courteous and helpful. The food was average. The prices were a little steep. I would choose this bar again for its people and location.
