Our ship, the Adonia dropped anchor in the bay and we were tendered to the shore. We made it up the steep hill to this lovely little church for Mass, what a wonderful welcome, singing and special blessing. The views are beautiful. We walked down to Salt Whistlebay, gorgeous, In the central part of the bay I could swim parallel to the beach in a depth I could stand up in with just sand below me. Some yachts were moored here. There was a small place hiring snorkell gear, a few stalls and and we took a Water taxi (speed boat) back to the jetty as the return climb was long and steep. My idea of a Caribbean paradise, no hotels or noise except the waves and wind in the trees.

A short but stiff climb from either side of the island brings you to this solid and unpretentious church which has spectacular views all around.

This Church is at the top of the mountain on Mayreau". It is much worth the climb. The church itself is quaint and warm, but the real attraction is the famous view of the Tobago Cays from the backside of the Church. Definitely worth a trip to the top.

The views of the windward side of the Island and the Tobago cays are excellent while walking up to the church were excellent.

The walk up to the church on the top of the hill is worth the effort. The church is small but very nice. If you pass the church on the left side and get to the backside of it, you get an amazing view over the Tobago Cays.

Well worth the walk up the very steep hill to see this quaint island church. The doors were wide open, welcoming you in to this calm, cool place of peace. The views to both side of the island are stunning.

Walked up from Salt Whistle Bay. It's a steep hot walk so be sure to bring some water. Views are really pretty and there is not much else to do on this small island. Not the most amazing attraction but a good way to stretch your legs and get a little exercise.

The church is beautifully simple in its architecture and has lovely stained glass windows. It was a great place to pause and give thanks for such a wonderful opportunity to visit an island that moves at a different pace. Has a breathtaking view of the island at the back of the church.

The church is charming, definitely worth the hike up the hot asphalt hill - and don't miss going around the back for the best view of the Grenadines!

We were visiting Mayreau as a stop on our cruise aboard the S/V Wind Spirit. Our ship tied up off the shore of Mayreau. We spent the day on the island. It is a beautiful place with one road from the beach, straight uphill, into the small village perched on the top. The walk is somewhat aerobic so if you suffer from frailties you may want to stay on the beach. If you're up to the exercise, you'll enjoy the stroll and, more so, the sights from the top. The Mayreau Catholic Church sits on the very top of the hill. You can't miss it. There are a bunch of small restaurants/bars along the way up the hill, but on the top there is the church and a school. The surrounding area offers fantastic views of Tobago Cays and the surrounding sea. At least nineteen shades of blue and turquoise in the waters. Spectacular. Have fun here!! You will.

After steep climb from the harbor, the little church is very pretty, and from the back there is a spectacular view of the Tobago Cays. The road is paved, and the walk takes about 20 minutes. Well worth it.On the road down, a must visit is Chez Robert, a quaint little bar, festooned on the outside with all manner of ocean decor, and inside with flags from visiters worldwide, and good will messages written on the walls. The proprietor is Robert, an island character who will make you most welcome.

Ok, this hill is STEEP and much higher than is evident from the bottom, so be sure to have water and a hat for the hike. Or you can take one of the taxis from the dock area, but you have to decide down there - we saw very few cars driving, let alone a wandering taxi. But it is SO worth it to go to the top!! The tiny church is beautiful all by itself. And the 360 degree view from the small park area to the left of the church is AMAZING! There is a small donation box outside the church, so be sure to have some cash to drop in. (You'd pay an entrance fee for an attraction elsewhere wouldn't you?)

Vale conferir.

Devant un panorama unique sur les tobago cays, ne pas rater cette petite eglise toute mignonne et son pretre thailandais!
