make sure you go to this place in shorts and you have enough water with you . As the names suggests it is extremely hot here but the walk around the valley is great. Make sure you get a tour guide to take you through the valley as they have some great stories to tell about the place.

Amazing 1 day excursion at the outskirts of Malindi Town. Visit Hell's Kitchen as part of your 1 Day Safari and experience nature's amazing and fascinating scenery. Hell's Kitchen offers you the canyon experience with landscape that will blow your mind away! You can experience sunset at the canyon with a really golden captivating view.

The place is nice, but I'm tired of paying too much to get to places and pay too expensive again when you come to places, and you can't be alone with your partner and enjoy the view, because you are hazzled by taxis, guides whatever.. It spoils the trip

A really nice site to visit towards the end of the day for the various colours. The walk down in "hell" is worth it too.

We took a day trip while we were staying at Hemingways and had to pay a guide who is associated with the hotel. It was pretty expensive to get up there, and an added fee to enter the site (which seemed a bit sketchy, as others have remarked here), but probably worth all the trouble. The place is much smaller than it looks in some pictures and the guided tour doesn't take very long, but it is interesting and it is beautiful. If you don't mind spending a bit of money, check it out.

nice views, colorful walls caused by erosion. downside is the location :/ away from the main road. make sure that you will not go with the small car like toyota yaris :) (our case) quite tiring journey through rough roads.

We had a group of 12 of us on holiday. We went here for a day trip and a break from the beach. The drives bumpy and dusty but wow - well worth it when you get there. It was incredible and our guide was great.Highly recommend the trip - you get see many beaches in your life, but nothing so often a canyon as incredible as this.

Interesting, but a long way from Malindi, and there is a lot more to see in the area, such as Gede, or go north to Lamu.

Marafa itself is a beautiful site. Best to visit it around 4pm as otherwise it's way too hot.the guided tour was good and our guide seemed friendly till we got to the end of the tour and he told us we could buy some notepads for the kids of the community. I liked the idea so we stopped by the "shop" where our guide asked us to buy a pack of notepads for 1000Ksh which is a total rip off. Consider that many people earn 300Ksh a day so you can see the point. Tourists who are in Kenya for the first time may fall for it and the saddest thing is that the kids won't even see a dime of that money as those guys will keep all of it.

Marafa Hell's Kitchen is worthy a visit, It's located 30 kms North of Malindi. The best time to Visit is in the afternoon after lunch. After the beautiful and informative walking Tour of the place with a guide you will be welcomed to rest on the benches around as you enjoy the most beautiful sight of Sunset in Africa. Enjoy a minute by minute setting of the sun as it bids goodbye to the day, The colors of the African sun set and the variety of soils at hell's kitchen will leave you with tears of joy. It's an Amazing site.

The place has amazing sunset views that are simply breathtaking. Memorable pictures to be taken. The road leading to the site is not tarmacked though it has murram.

Getting to Marafa was quite difficult, with the terrible dirt road one has to take for a little more than an hour from Malindi. And apart from the hills and depression, there is nothing spectacular about the place. On the upside, the view around dusk is beautiful and great for photography.

hot as hell, but gorgeous and spectacular. Bring some water, lots of water and comfy shoes, better not flip flops

I have lived in and traveled around Kenya, a most beautiful country, and always found very friendly people...until I came to Marafa. We drove through an open gate, saw the depression, and when we went to leave, the gate had shut and we were told that we had to pay an exorbitant 1200 KSH per person fee for the four of us. There were no signs indicating any fee, and the gate was open with no one in sight when we arrived. After a standoff and negotiating, we paid 300 shillings per person, but it left a bad taste in my mouth.I would recommend leaving your car outside if you go, so you won't be held hostage to the local "mafia."
