I was really excited when Living Social had a deal for Running Hare. I went last year for a wine tasting on my mom's birthday and was impressed with the winery. Both times I've visited in December, so I definitely need to take a trip there in the summer. Pack some snacks (cheese and crackers, fruits, chocolates) as you will want to hang around. We liked the Jack Rabbit White. It's also my understanding they do beer tastings in the summer.

Great place for a relaxing afternoon. Went for a wine tasting, came back with several bottles of wine. Great views, good atmosphere. good vibe. Pack a lunch or pick up some snacks and relax on the grass.

My husband and I love going to the Running Hare Vineyard. The wine is great and the view is beautiful. We have also attended a wedding there and it was perfect!

This place is so nice. You can bring the kiddos to sit out on the lawn and enjoy live music and tastings. Pack a picnic lunch. What a nice afternoon. Totally recommend. :)

This faux Tuscan villa hosts special events, including weddings. The food was probably catered, so comment on it may be irrelevant, though it was of good quality for a wedding. The manager is repulsive - yelling at arriving guests to "hurry it up" (many in heels) and castigating some guests (no, I wasn't one!) for helping themselves to a glass of wine at an outdoor bar - perhaps justified, but the tone and hostility showed a clear need for remedial charm classes and pronto! The waitstaff were not rude, but wedding guests had to get their own coffee - a first in my experience. One guest asked if one or two bottles of their wine could be purchased - and was told to walk down the hill in heels to inquire there! A pity, since the setting itself is lovely!

I stopped by here during a road trip from Annapolis to Historic St. Mary's City, and the vineyard is delightful. We had a Living Social coupon for a winetasting, two souvenir wine glasses, and bottle of wine, and we and ended up getting a deliciously fresh and sweet-but-not-too-sweet Riesling. The weekend wine tasting is done under a wooden patio strung with cafe lights in full view of the vineyards and the Tuscan-style mansion, so the setting is beautiful. The only bummer is that you are not allowed to walk up to the house, but you can relax on the cafe-style tables and listen to the live music (between noon and 4:00pm that day). I would definitely stop by here again the next time I'm visiting St. Mary's City!Note: The only bathroom facilities we saw were portable johns - so don't drink TOO much wine... ;)

Stopped in here after a day at Flag Ponds. The drive in is, well, interesting: Looooong narrow paved road, then you think you're at the winery only to find signs pointing you on further. The remaining road is semi-paved with some exciting features (ruts, potholes, small riverbeds) but these hilarious signs keep pointing you onward (Almost there!!!). Then you come around the bend to rolling vines, tasting pavilions, a gorgeous event center, and ample parking. The staff was delightful, even with a packed tasting area. Tastings are $5 and you get to taste all of their wines (one was unavailable). All the wines were tasty, but we particularly enjoyed the Riesling, Malbec, and table white. The bottles were reasonably priced (we each bought 3). Lots of seating to enjoy a glass or a bottle along with a picnic (they might sell food, I didn't check). We also spotted hop vines and were informed they will be serving their own beer shortly!

We visited Running Hare Vineyard this weekend with some friends. It was our second time, and our friend's first time visiting. They loved it! The wines are really very good -- especially the reds. Tastings are reasonable at $5 and you get to try about 8 wines. Totally worth it. We were there on a Sunday afternoon where they had TONS of outdoor seating and very pleasant live music. Not too loud or annoying. It is perfect for purchasing a bottle (or two!) and enjoying a picnic with friends. The views are stunning and on a beautiful summer day = perfection! A must for Southern Maryland.

This vineyard has to be one of the most beautiful vineyards that I have had the pleasure of visiting in Maryland. They have live music on Saturday's and Sunday's and offer $5 wine tasting. It looks like a wonderful venue for weddings as well. The wine is also delicious and is readily available for purchase. It is recommended that you bring your own packed picnic when you decide to venture out to this beautiful venue. I packed cheese and crackers with some fresh fruits. It complemented my Riesling perfectly.

We went to Running Hare Vineyard on the recommendation of a local who enjoys wine. It's a bit of a drive getting there, but worth the time and effort. We had no difficulty parking our car, and while business at the tasting bar was steady, there was plenty of seating/umbrellas for everyone. The staff who did the tastings was friendly and knowledgable. The wine was good...not great...but decent. We brought our own cooler with cheese/crackers/and sandwiches (encouraged on website...I don't believe there was food available for purchase). Picture yourself under a colorful umbrella, sitting on a comfortable chair, gazing up at the grape vines on the rolling hills, live music playing in the background, glass of wine in your hand...if this appeals to you, then you will love it as much as we did. We will definitely return.

This is a beautiful vineyard at a great location. Gorgeous views with rolling hills and great tasting wine. This is a great place to enjoy live music on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon while sipping wine and bringing along your favorite snacks. Its worth checking the website out for any upcoming events. The staff is friendly and its worth it to do the wine tasting. There are tables set, with umbrellas, which is great on hot, sunny days. Its a romantic place for couples or a great place to gather with friends and relax.

Bring your picnic basket, sip the wine and just sit back and enjoy the peaceful, countryside beauty of this charming winery. The wine tasting provides an informative ample sampling of the varieties produced at this vineyard. Great way to spend an afternoon.

The staff was very knowledgeable, and friendly! The ambience was romantic, and the music was that extra touch to relax during your tasting! They have a fabulous venue location on the premises at the top of the hill. Plenty of room to sit, relax, and enjoy the view. You have to try the Single Estate 80% CaCao Single Dark Chocolate bar from the Dominican Republic called Spagnvola. We paired with a Malbec Red Wine. Do yourself a favor, and drive out there with your significant other today!!

We visited Running Hare for a tasting in December. Their setting is beautiful. The winery is set on top of a hill with a european looking building. The inside of the tasting room (more correctly, tasting building), is large and has plenty of seating if you brought a picnic lunch, which we did. They do weddings here and I imagine the beautiful tasting room is thanks to it being used for wedding receptions. There are beautiful views from the tasting room as well. They have a small offering of wines, I think they had about 7 we tasted that day. I enjoyed their reds, and they offer a red dessert wine from Chamborcin, which I enjoyed. I also thought it was unique, because I had not seen a dessert Chamborcin before. The woman who poured our tasting was friendly and informative. I think this would be a very nice place to visit in the summer and have a picnic outside.

The Running Hare has a great ambience, a rarity in our beautiful country area of Southern Maryland. Some friends asked me to join them for the New Year's celebration. I was looking for something to do with dancing, good food and classier than everyday.Overall, it was a great evening mostly because of the company I was with. The food was good. I enjoyed the band. Cons: The price was $125. per person which did not include alcohol. The entrance from the street was not well marked or lit and very difficult to find at night as I had to arrive 1/2 hour after the party began. Where to park was confusing and not well marked (and scary). I drove down some back dirt road following the "Event Parking" sign to a narrow dead end. I could barely turn around. Finally I parked in the employee parking area. It took me about 20 minutes to figure out where to park. The Staff removed all the food very early in the evening. Also, when I would go to dance, the wait staff had taken my food and drinks even though I was not finished. I am not sure if the wait staff wanted to get home early or what the reason for doing this but it was annoying. They served deserts on tiny napkins rather than plates. The salad bowl was depleted for a while before the staff refilled it.Ok, I felt that they didn't always have the best interest of the customer in mind and that they really cut corners. That said, I would consider going again because the location and friendships. Do I hope they make some improvements for the $125. fee. YES!!
