In the Four State Region, nice malls are somewhat hard to come by. Winchester has a mall, but it's much smaller than the Valley Mall. Martinsburg and Chambersburg have malls, but both seem to be winding down. Therefore, Valley Mall is the default "big" mall in the region. Anchors include Sears, JCPenney, Macy's, Bon-Ton, and a theater. The Macy's in Valley Mall is a bit outdated, but their merchandise seems to be a nice step above the other anchors. Valley Mall has the largest Bon-Ton that I've ever seen, and I was very impressed with their selection. JCPenney was recently renovated. I must say, if every JCPenney location gets the same treatment, the chain would be doing much better. It looks excellent and should be a model for future renovated stores. The other tenant mix is pretty standard for most malls, but it's still a nice place to visit. Around the mall, there are quite a few dining options. Off the top of my head, I can think of Golden Corral, Tilted Kilt (like a Hooter's), Red Robin, Olive Garden, and a new building housing both a Starbuck's and Noodles & Company. Hagerstown's Valley Mall isn't the biggest or nicest mall that I've been to, but the nicer anchor stores make it worth the trip!
