I have lived in the DC area for 17 years. My husband and I just took up kayaking this summer. We regret waiting this long. Piscataway Creek is a true national treasure. Our guide (Judy) shared her wealth of knowledge both about the history and the flora and fauna. We saw a Bald Eagle flying and landing, numerous King Fishers and many other birds. This is well worth the investment of your time and money. One of those days you won't soon forget.

Took advantage of a Travelzoo coupon and did the Sunset tour. Enjoyed so much we did again in Oct. Have done other DC area kayak tours and this one was the most professional. Group size was manageable (people not ramming into you). Guides very knowledgeable about the area, the wildlife that you're looking at and about kayaking. Boats, paddles and life vests in excellent condition. Each tour starts with a brief intro about the area you will be paddling around and then you get some basic paddling instruction (you won't be doing class IV rapids but you won't drown). On the evening tour we saw bald eagles, blue heron, egrets, terns and osprey. The owner, Judy, is a delight. Can't wait to go back in 2012!
