An amazing and easy hike in Newburyport,MA. It starts near Michaels Harborside Restaurant. It is all paved and has wide trails. They also have several Sculptures. You can take a baby carriage or walk or jog on it. Just a little over a mile and close to Cashman Park. I put up a few of the pictures of some of the sculptures that you walk past.

Fun walk, with wonderful sculpture along the route. So well done ~ very enjoyable and an easy walk. You end up at the train station.

While visiting Newburyport with my aunt we took this trail back to the train. It was a nice walk and lots of fun. It is well maintained with beautiful landscaping and unusual sculptures. I would recommend to anyone visiting or living in the Newburyport area to take this trail.

This is not a very long path which is why I gave it only a 4 but is very well maintained by assorted locals. It begins by the Newburyport Commuter Rail Station and ends at the Merrimac by Michael's so-called restaurant. There are assorted art works along the trail. That makes a mile and a bit so it's a half decent run. If you want to bike, continue across the bridge and along the road toward Salisbury.

At present the Rail Trail connects the MBTA station to Cashman Park on the Merrimack River. From there, cross the Route 1 bridge and pick it up in Salisbury where it runs as far as Mudnock Road. Great for walking and bicycling. Another old rail spur is planned to be converted to a rail trail connecting to downtown Newburyport. Great idea for off-road safety.

Connected to the Newburyport downtown via the waterfront it is lined with art installations to inspire while walking, running or taking the kids for a stroll.

This short (just 1.1 miles) rail trail extends from the Merrimac River in Newburyport up to the Newburyport Commuter Rail Station. You can pick up the trail from numerous roads intersecting along the way. There are many pieces of public art (my favorite is the metal swirl sculpture) and there is sun and shade as you go. It is beautifully maintained and local gardeners plant several beds of flowers alongside the path. Near the commuter rail is a side path to a local ice cream shop and at the river's end of the path is Michaels Waterfront Restaurant. This path is too short to be a real workout on a bike but you can cross the river and continue your ride on the other side of the river onto a bike path there. There are always walkers, runners and dog walkers on the path and everyone is super friendly. If you want a bit of exercise away from the crowds of downtown, it's a great little diversion. There are also a few geocaches hidden on the path so that just adds to the fun of the walk.
