This is a small hall of fame that is a labor of love. It focuses on history of the sport and inductees to the national volleyball hall of fame. It's not overly large. It might be worth a visit if you're 1) a super big volleyball fan 2) happen to be in the area for another reason.

The volleyball hall of fame may be off the beaten path, but with love of volleyball in our hearts, it is well worth the trip. The employees are knowledgeable about the sport they love. The displays are of past hall of famer's with a brief history of each. Display cases of the current year inductees are full of wonderful photos, uniforms and trophies. The inventor of Volleyball has a nice display as well as beach, and sitting volleyball. A small section is devoted to high school volleyball.

The write-up in Fodor's suggested this would be an exciting place to visit, with "informative videos" and "interactive games to test your skills." The only thing running when we visited was a computer trivia game; outside of some panels on the history of volleyball, the displays were uninteresting. The whole place is just two rooms, with a sizable part of the main room devoted to showing how players line up on court. The public seems to know. We were the only ones present on an August weekend. We had tried going the previous Wednesday, but they HoF had cut back their hours from what they advertised in the local papers. Incidentally, Fodor's also recommends visiting the Paper City Brewing Company for a tour and tasting, but that seems closed. And Holyoke's visitor center is a dusty place where a curator seems not to have stopped by for many a year.
