But if you live near here or have to come here for some reason (Registry of Deeds, for example), it is pleasant enough. Not a strip mall, which is very nice. No big box stores. Just some local stores and a breakfast eatery. Not much parking in the area. For locals, it is nice that this area remains unmarred by what has happened nearby on Route 1 etc.

I have lived in Dedham my whole life (Minus college and a few years after). I avoid the square like the plague. There are some great little restaurants and sub shops, but it's a traffic and parking nightmare. They redid it a few years ago and spent millions of our tax dollars...they did add some fancy brick sidewalks and $25,000.00 benches ... but they took a bad traffic flow and some how made it much worse.

Beans is one of our favorite places to shop. Bob likes polo shirts, Beans shirts and genos. They have the best material and styles that we can possibly get anywhere. Just what we like. The 50s Cafe, a breakfast gormet of the 50s, is the best place to eat around Dedham. It's inexpensive, delicious and the waitresses are awesome. The Citizen's bank is on the corner, and the bank representatives are professional and helpful. The Whole Foods store is one block away and has more wonderful food that you can imagine. You stay for an hour looking, buying, and enjoying the new foods you see.

Tons of great shops, places to eat, the old art house movie theatre - this is a quaint, but happening New England town - a great pit sop for those doing a tour of New England. Check out www. visitdedhamsquare .com

Dedham Square has had a bit of a resurgence in the last two years. With a newly renovated square, new shops and new vitality. The Dedham Square Artist Guild on High Street, is home to 24 local artists and showcases a variety of mediums such as painting, photography, fiber, watercolor, ceramics, wood, glass, mosaic and jewelry. The Dedham Community Theatre not only shows great movies (and sells beer!), but also hosts local art shows in the basement gallery. These shows are coordinated by the Dedham Square Artist Guild as well. (This is no longer the museum of bad art. The shows are coordinated with art from artists living and working in Massachusetts and often include a theme.)Regina's Bakery is a great new addition to the Square, offering fabulous baked goods. Nest, has unique clothing, jewelry, art, etc, great gifts. The Blue Bunny is a local favorite, toy store and book shop.Sunday's stop by the Dedham Square Farmer's Market, an indoor farmer's market located on High Street, right in the Square. There are so many great things happening in Dedham Square. Grab some coffee at Mocha Java or Paradise Cafe and take a stroll around to see the historic houses and buildings. It's a great way to spend a few hours.

Loved Isabella's Restaurant. The lamb chops were the best I have ever had. Great shops...good parking...excellent restaurants, The building are quaint and the shops are very cute. The architecture is wonderful. Drive through the streets close to downtown

Dedham is a small town that hosts several large malls and stripmalls. Fortunately this has left the little downtown center area unmolested. Now that a recent facelift is finishing up it is ready to take on the next fifty years looking like a movie set for the 1950s.There is a mix of stores, but not where you go for serious shopping. This is where you go for a stroll, an easy dinner and then a movie at the throw-back theater.
