We hike Mount Greylock on the Money Brook Trail up and mainly on Hoopers trail on the way down. Beware this is quite a hike and expect 6-8 hours to do. Winter conditions make it trickier and with a lot of snow its not recommended unless you have proper gear and are ready for a hard day of walking. Additionally there is no support on the mountain in the winter. So please take that into account.

Best in the fall, closed in winter. Beautiful whenever you can make it. Great scenic drive. Fall foliage(around columbus day) can't be beat. Didn't appreciate the beauty of home until I moved away and came back.

Went to this spot twice to look at the scenery, once before and then after a snow storm. There are hiking trails that I would love to try sometime. My traveling companion was unable to get around so we just enjoyed the view from the car and it was well worth it!

I visited Mt. Greylock on October 27, 2014.The season was over, so the lodge and other facilities at the peak were closed. The Tower was also closed, for repair. On the up side, the parking was free. However, the view is great, as are the views on the way up and down. There is informational signage that is excellent.Be sure to to stop in the very informative, if small, visitor center. All in all, if you are visiting the area this is a must see.

We drove to the top of Mt. Greylock to see the Fall foliage views. The tower and lodge were closed for the season. The view was very nice and well worth the drive to the top.

The road to the top was closed for the season but you can park in the parking lot and you have a choice of a couple different trails including the Appalachian Trail.

My boyfriend and I visited Mount Greylock in October without really knowing what trails to hike or what to expect. We stopped by the Visitor Center when we arrived and asked the ranger there what trails we should hike for a 2-3 hour hike. He advised us which trails to take and said that at the MAX it would take 4 hours. Well, 5 hours later, we finished up our hike. When I looked up the hike after the fact on the Mount Greylock website, the estimated time for the hike was set at 5.5 - 6.5 hours and was 8.5 miles long. While I can appreciate that everyone has a different idea of how long hikes should take, you would think that the ranger would underestimate people's abilities and overestimate the amount of time it would take for people to hike these trails.Despite this (and the fact that we were ill-prepared for such a long hike), the hike was great! We did the Jones Nose trail (super steep at points) through the AT and up to the summit (and took the Dynamite Trail back down which was my favorite). A lot of people drive directly up to the summit so it is pretty crowded there but the views were really nice after a long hike up. There is a cute lodge at the top where you can stop in for food, drinks and a warm fireplace. The trails were beautiful and well marked. I'd definitely suggest hiking here but would encourage people to do their research before arriving and not rely on the ranger to provide this information!

Beautiful place to visit when in the area. We had a chance to visit this summer during our family vacation to the Berkshires. The views are spectacular! The boys had a great time just sitting and taking in the awesome beauty! Worth the time to stop by and enjoy!! Just remember if you pack a little snack to enjoy on the grass, take bug spray, and a bag for any garbage, as there are lots of friendly winged critters there to greet you and no trash cans! * just a handy lil tip!

Even if you aren't a hiker (which I am not), Mt Greylock should not be missed. It's a lovely drive up to the summit, with numerous scenic overlooks along the way. Take your time, and don't miss the opportunities to pull over, get out, and soak in the scenery. The fee to park at the summit is really reasonable ($2), and the photo ops are excellent. Watch the weather forecast so you can go on a clear, sunny day to maximize the experience. The only criticism I have is of the "gift shop." It's actually just a little corner of the lodge with a few post cards and a couple of other items. Seems like they would do well if they offered a mini replica of the war memorial, as it's a beautiful tower that can be seen from ground level. Nonetheless, we had a wonderful time there.

We started our tour of Mount Greylock State Reservation through the north gate off Notch Rd in North Adams, MA. http://www.fodors.com/pdf/Massachusetts-Fall-Foliage-Drive.pdf. The north entrance midweek was practically deserted which enabled us to make numerous stops along our drive. The leaves were at their peak and as the wind picked up it was a breathtaking magical experience driving through a shower of golden leaves. Even though it was overcast the views of the Berkshire mountains with foliage in full color was awe inspiring. The visitors center at the south entrance provided additional great vistas.

This state park offers many hiking biking trails from easy to very difficult. A visit at the state park entrance information office will give you all the details and maps to enjoy hikes taht meets your level. Parking is free in all of the park except at the top. Make sure it is a very clear day when going to the summit. Most trails are well marked but not all of them, so be carefull not to get lost. All in all I recommend this Mount and bring a picnic as there are many vistas where you can set up a nice picnic after a long hike.

Went to New England to see the foliage, made the trip to Greylock. The views are great and the drive was spectacular

A great day, great views. Worth the trip and the time spent at the top to see the colors and views. The drive up and down is easy, but challenging when meeting others and dodging bicycles.

Very happy that we came here on Sunday and not Saturday. Had breakfast down the road and then drove to the top. The dog was on a leash when we were at the summit and once we started hiking, took him off. Some very nice vistas if you keep your eyes open through the woods. Did about 3hrs of hiking (down and back from the leanto) and it was perfect. Hope to go back next year and try to go out for 6hrs maybe on the other side of the mountain
