I have attended many wonderful events at the Mahaiwe. There is not a bad seat in the house and it is around the corner from lots of fabulous restaurants, shopping and other interesting experiences. You might want to leave a bit early for very popular events as parking can be tough sometimes.

Just visited Great Barrington (again) and we attended an NTL HD presentation of, Of Mice & Men, which was great I can say the theater is very beautiful... historic and has the modern feel... great sound and the view is great it seems anyone in the audience can see. The only thing I know is the lack of concessions during intermission and such... Some improvement could be valuable for the theater, even if it was bottled water. But I will say this the theater has a great location being in the Berkshires, its a true gem.

In the heart of the Berkshires, is the Mahaiwe Theater. This beautifully restored theater is worthy of a trip unto itself. And, to sit amidst its tasteful splendor and experience local performers, is a thrill. As is seeing local friends and "family" gather together. I have recently become a lover of Opera. The MET Live HD, is a glorious gift literally at our door step. Ask any friend and I will extol the excitement that the MET offering provides. From the sight of the orchestra, conductor, scenery, music, voices, behind the set interviews. This literally hits my high notes. But to see this in our home town at the Mahaiwe is like whipped cream! Plus, the Mahaiwe serves the community. It is a LOCAL venue for Co-op meetings, Obama's inauguration, Heather's live performance, a Rimon fund raiser, honoring Sonjiban's departure and his films, kid movie classics like Chitty Chitty and The Wizard of Oz, Arlo Guthrie and clan, a local himself, and the list goes on. OH, and there is the Film Festival (BIF) that people flock to and the Play Writes Lab, both home grown! The Theaters scope is to serve and it covers an expansive web, drawing us together in the name of Art and Community. Well worth a trip! Check out the local flavors!! And some of the larger billed performers are great amidst themselves! Barbara Cook was phenomenal.

In the past month we've enjoyed an evening jazz concert (Dianne Reeves) , an evening classical music concert (Mozart from the Close Encounters with Music series )and two Saturday afternoon Met Opera in HD transmissions. Eagerly awaiting the NT live transmission of Skylight. We all can't thank Lola and Ed Jaffe enough for spearheading the creation of this wonderful community resource. The programming offers something for everyone. It has transformed what once was the off-season - now we have cultural happenings year round. Having Castle Street Cafe next door to provide before and after meals and even intermission snacks for some performances - priceless.

The Mahaiwe has comfortable seats and most have excellent visibility. The theatre is a nice size--not too big and not too small and the staff are friendly and efficient. The shows and performances we have seen there have all been excellent.

A great venue to see a concert. The seating is great and the restored theatre is absolutely divine. Great Barrnigton is lucky to have such a wonderful venue which entertains us year round.

Nice old theater in downtown Great Barrington. The theater itself does not offer parking, but there are several parking lots within walking distance.

This is one of the nicest venues in Berkshire County. It is intimate and gives a good view of the stage from all seats. It is a great place to see a concert, play or to view an old movie. They are doing an excellent job of providing all sorts of entertainment and holding on to the feel of the old theater.

I have driven thru Great Barrington many times and never knew that down the side street of Castle Street was this great old theatre. Very small and well restored, it was a treat to see the Four Tops Sunday night. The locals are very proud of the Mahaiwe and give it great support, we will be back again soon. There was plenty of free parking and local eateries were open on a Sunday night, the whole town was vibrant with vacationing families, just Americana at its best! Highly recommend that you go see a show at the Mahaiwe.

I don't know what me so long to get to this venue, but I sure am glad I finally made it! What a beautiful little theater! It is very small and intimate; smaller than the Bardavon in Poughkeepsie. That is a good thing because it makes all seats good seats. The seats were comfortable enough and there is a wide range of entertainment. Something for everyone. I can't wait to go back.

Our first time to this venue and would definitely be back. We attended a free children's event introducing kids to silent movies and live vaudeville theater. The show by circustheatrics.com was wonderful. The main actor had the most wonderful personality and was great with the kids. After the show, the kids were able to learn some of the tricks, such as rhythm sticks and balancing a feather. Thanks so much Mahaiwe for offering this wonderful afternoon for our family!

It was great. The theater has recently been renovated, all the seating gives a good view of the stage, and the offerings are excellent.

I always enjoy going to a show at the Mahaiwe. I don't think that there is a bad seat in the house, and the acoustics are great. They have many wonderful offerings for all tastes. Truly a gem.

Fantastic way to see live metropolitan opera performances, plus interviews with the stars Take a peek backstage, see the set changes, and costumes. Great seating, sound, and price. Sure beats the hassle of going into Manhattan, fighting traffic, crowds and paying high prices. This is a true joy!
