The Bearsden area of Athol is a nice place to go hiking and Newton Reservoir is a must see while you're there. If you want to go kayaking or canoeing, it must be carried in for about a 10 minute walk. On the back side of the reservoir there are dugout areas in the ground that were used by Chinese people many years ago as living quarters while they built the reservoir. Also Paige's cabin is available for camping with permission of the caretaker. Better take a GPS or compass for hiking.

Lovely loop hike up and around the Round Top Trail. About 1.5 hrs for experienced hikers, probably 2 hrs for more sedate hikers. View of surrounding hills from viewing platform at the top.

Great trails, clean, well marked and not crowded! We frequent, views are spectacular. Easy trail for all levels. Lots of wildlife to see and fantastic birdwatching.

It's very accessable. Not overcrowded. Great rocks and roots for mountain biking. Central Mass nature at it's best.
