Driving through the Keystone Canyon is absolutely amazing. It's not really a tourist destination, as much as it is a place you're required to drive through to get to Valdez. And it's definitely worth it stopping to see the 2 waterfalls there!

Lots of lovely waterfalls. Ride up to Thompson's pass. Beautiful drive. One of the prettiest I have ever seen.

Beautiful Canyon of towering mountains with lots of waterfalls the pinnacle being Bridal Veil & Horseshoe Tail falls which are particularly powerful & picturesque.

Beautiful falls! The Bridal Veil Falls and Horsetail Falls are Just spectacular. There are a couple of miner falls, but the two larger ones are just Awesome.

Just when I thought I had seen the most amazing thing in Alaska! The trip south on the Richardson Highway is not to be missed, Thompson Pass, Worthington Glacier and Keystone Canyon are a few of your rewards for driving to Valdez Alaska. Clear your camera memory card, because you will need it here.

Fantastic time whitewater rafting through the canyon! Bridal Veil Falls is a great stop along the way, which gushes 800 gallons/minute-incredible!

The drive from Anchorage to Valdez is one more visitors should try to make. It can be done in one day, but if the weather is nice, I strongly recommend making it 2 days (with a stop at the Copper River Princess Lodge) because there are dozens of opportunities for pull-over pictures and short hikes. At the end of all this, and just before getting to Valdez, you are rewarded with this incredibly picturesque small canyon. The trees, and cliffs, and waterfalls, and the river in this narrow canyon are gorgeous. It looks like they had an avalanche last winter, as there is still a masive pile of snow coming down from one of the mountains almost to the edge of the road. The guardrail is brand new, so it looks like something major happened earlier this year. Get away from the tour buses and take this drive!

The drive is always beautiful and ever changing, beautiful waterfalls and glacier views, the old railroad tunnels and caves, also great area for hiking and rafting.

Hikers will find Glaciers and waterfalls in area so dress for the weather! Expect rain in summer, and possible snow the rest of the year.

What a wonderful ride through the canyon. Everywhere you look it's spectacular. Bridal Veil falls and horsetail falls, not to mention the sheer rugged beauty of the scenery . Slow down and enjoy the view!!

Since driving into Valdez is only via a single route, you can't miss passing beautiful Keystone Canyon, with its intensive waters rushing through. When we were there, the waters kept running big ice boulders that consistently broke from the nearby avalanche glacier through which the river flows. It was amazing to see.

Gorgeous! Breathtaking and there is a pull out to stop and take photos so please be safe and don't stop in the road as it is a blind curve.

My husband and I have traveled many places and we both agree that the drive on the Richardson Highway towards Valdez is amazing and probably the prettiest thing we've ever seen. As you drive into keystone canyon, you are surrounded by lush green mountains and beautiful waterfalls. Better than Denali National Park even!

The key to enjoying a visit to Keystone is visit it on a sunny day. The views are awesome, if you can see them. But you visit on a rainy day, the footing can be treacherous and no rewarding views at the end of the climbs. So pick the day with good weather, or do something else instead.

An easily missed stop along the way. A small pull out takes you to a manually hewed tunnel in a wall of rock. If you can and are a bit adventurous, walk along the road past to the other end of the tunnel. Gorgeous location and drive.
