This is a beautiful little church with friendly people. We have attended the services a number of times and they are wonderful. Even if you do not go to services, it is a wonderful place to stop on your sightseeing trip.

Often the door is open and you do not want to miss seeing the inside if possible. Please make a minimal donation to help maintain this lovely Church.

Living in kenai I have been to this church in more than a sightseeing way . I have been to services and funerals here. I grew up catholic and my husband grew up Russian orthodox. You must stand up during all services. It is seriously very pretty inside. There is even a gift shop inside.

The Holy Assumption of the Virgin Mary Church is a traditional Russian Orthodox place of worship that dates back to 1895, and is on the National Historic Register. It is beautifully constructed -- with traditional "onion domes", painted icons, etc. too -- and still actively used. There is a small gift shop nearby for folks to acquire Russian-made items as well... An important part of Alaska's and the Kenai Peninsula's history that's worth seeing -- enjoy!

This is a cherry of a church and there are several old churches in the same vicinity on the bluff at Old Town Kenai, Alaska. From the quaint courtyard, to the iconic three steeples, this is a well-maintain historical landmark. There is also a small gift shop open during the day time. I parked on Mission Road and walked around soaking in the history.
