A very nice little museum that exceeded my expectations! The greeters were SO NICE and made you feel truly welcomed. You can tell just by walking through this museum that they have a lot of community pride!

This museum covered everything from town history to the civil war. It doesn't seem like it could hold alot of exhibits by looking at the outside but once inside the space and exhibits were amazing. This is one of the best town museums I have been to.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this museum. The staff of docents are outstanding in guiding you through the museum. They are very knowledgeable and articulate.

For a small town the impact Fairhope added to the history of the South was surprising. Many artifacts and memorabilia from local citizens have been added in the past three years to make this a must visit.

Visited fairhope many times, but this was our first visit - surprised how much there was to see and learn. Would recommend a visit - can make it short or spend a whole afternoon.

You will learn a lot about the quaint town here. If you are there on Tuesdays, you can have locally grown tea with the staff and friends all while learning about Fairhope's culture.

This museum brings to life the uniqueness of this special town. What began as an experimental "utopian" community, adopting a "single tax system" has evolved into a vibrant town. Make sure you visit the second floor. It contains an exhibit of wood sculptures by Craig T. Sheldon. They are extraordinary. The docent who greeted us provided us with great information.

Not only is this a free admission museum, it teaches all the small town history of Fairhope! We ended up learning that Mardi Gras was originally from AL and " stolen " from New Orleans :)

My husband and I stayed in Fairhope, to attend Mardi Gras in Mobile. With a few hours at our disposal on a rainy afternoon, we decided to visit the museum as it was indoors and out of the rain. What a pleasant surprise! The museum is very well done, run by local people who know lots about the area and its famous inhabitants. We also were fortunate enough to meet the local tea plantation owner who has strong connections to Mardi Gras (I won't give away the surprise). Do go and experience it!

If you are visiting the area for over a day or two you need to stop by this museum. It is not large but it is Free. And, it has a lot of information on the community and how it came into being. The information guy had a wealth of knowledge of the community and was very nice. He gave us the background on the founding of the community by a group out of Iowa and the economics of the settlement. They have a wealth of old tools, photos, newspapers and don't miss the second floor and the wood carvers display. They also made recommendations on other sites in the town and suggested a driving tour route. Very interesting site to visit.

This is a small museum with lots of area history. Don't miss the second floor. If you go with kids, they will love the jail.

The museum's emphasis is displaying average possessions of some of the political families in Fairhope. You might see a sampler stitched by the granddaughter of one of the council members or perhaps a soup bowl once owned by the great aunt of a former mayor. Not at all interesting or informative-a waste of time.
