Terrebonne Parish is easily reached from north and south along Hwy 90 or 20. Some of the most down home and good restaurants in the state are here. Few roads are true N-S, as most follow the waterways, and can be confusing to an outsider. But, you'll be hard pressed to find friendlier and more accommodating people anywhere in LA. Sure, it's the south, and it's hot/humid, there's mosquitoes, and it's swampy - so what. Some of the finest fresh and saltwater fishing and great bird and deer hunting is found here. It's true south Louisiana. There are good people, great music, great food, and so many outdoor things to do. Come pass a good time.

We have visited twice. The second time we took the two granddaughters, ages 5 and 10. They absolutely loved "A Cajun Man's Swamp Tour" and "Greenwood Gator Farm." There is so much to see! Our hotel had an excellent indoor pool.

I love the people in Terrebonne Parish but the infrastructure has a lot to be desired. There is no rhyme or reason for putting up building or connecting roads. It seems that if there is an empty spot just put any building. It is lacking aesthetics.

There is so much culture in this Cajun town. So many things to see and do. The food is so good here! It's a piece of heaven! Will definitely be back for another visit.

My wife and I recently stayed four nights in Houma. Terrebonne Parish is very much about outdoor activities. There is plenty of fishing and hunting all over this Parish. This is also Cajun Country.

Go!!! You will love the Visitors Centers in Houma and Thibodeau. We saw live Cajun music on Monday night in Thibodeau. I think it is live on Thursdays in Houma. Great exhibits and history, too.

From the communities of Dulac and Dularge to the city of Houma itself, there is so much to see and do. There's the Southdown Plantation, a Veterans Park, and a growing business community of the Martin Luther King Avenue area. The downtown area of Houma is both historic and scenic with great medical facilities and the largest Mardi Gras celebration outside New Orleans. Check it out.

Backwards and no forward thinking from the government. Simple things such as turn lanes, crosswalks, timed traffic lights are practically non existent. The lack of variety of dining and shopping options force many people out of town to spend money. Also, the educational system is very poor.

I read another review that said there was no traffic. I'd love to know how that person got thru Houma.... Traffic lights, parking meters, one way streets, bridges that open randomly. It's a mess. And literally it's a mess. I have no idea how Houma ever got a clean city award. There is trash everywhere-it's especialy ugly in the green slimey bayous.

If you like to fish or partake in water sports, Terrebonne Parish has a lot to offer. Houma is the main hub for dining and entertainment, but there are more charming towns in the area to check-out. Thibodaux in Lafourche Parish is minutes away and houses Nicholls State University.
