My husband and 2 son-in-laws played this course. They said it was hard and challenging. Very beautiful and enjoyed playing it very much.

Make sure you have plenty of golf balls unless you always hit the ball straight. You change elevation of 700 feet during your 18 holes of golf. Our package included range balls, breakfast and a steak dinner on Friday and Saturday nights.

Great design in great condition. The white tees will challenge you, the blues will require a strong iron game to the greens and the tips I don't want to think about. The course is well conditioned and worth the drive to this out of the way gem of a golf course.

I have skied for years at Snowshoe and since I took up golf, I have always wanted to visit this course. I have a WV Golf Association VIP card which made my trip to Snowshoe very economical. I played a Jack Nicklaus course the day before and it was special to then play a Gary Player course. This is predominantly a mountain layout and was beautiful. The fairways and green were in very good condition. All the staff members, particularly Chris were very helpful. This course is in the mountains of WV and is a trip from almost everywhere, but it is worth it.

After a skiing vacation at Snowshoe Mountain several years ago, I had hoped to someday return to enjoy the Gary Player designed Raven Golf Club. I finally was able make it happen on a golf trip last Fall. Great decision! It was definitely well worth the winding journey through the West Virginia wilderness to tee off from this gem. 'Spectacular' hardly describes this wonderful layout. The views, routing and scenery are beautiful and breathtaking. Really, almost any one of the 18 could easily qualify as the 'signature hole'. Additional proof that this is an architectual masterpiece is the fact that we could even play the course after the area had been inundated with 3" of rain the day before. Over the years, I have had the good fortune of playing some pretty amazing venues, such as Firestone South, Inverness, Kapalua Plantation Course, Longaberger, Mauna Lani South, etc., but the Raven definitely ranks in my top 5 favorite courses. In fact, the course made such a positive impression on us that my golf buddy and I are altering our golf trip plans so that we can include another round at The Raven again this year. So, if you are in the vicinity, by all means make every effort to play the Raven. You won't regret it!

For those of you who have not been, Raven @ Snowshoe Mountain is probably the most scenic, beautiful golf courses our great state and country has to offer! Quite challenging and requires accurate tee and approach shots, with fair greens that are normally kept at a quick, but playable speed. Some very severe elevation changes, mostly of the downhill variety...plus you're already up in the mountains so the ball will fly further than normal for most. Photo ops on just about every hole. Once you're done with your round, Route 66 Grill in the plaza on your way out has some fantastic sandwiches as well!

Have played the Raven a few times a year for the last 10 years. A great, challenging, scenic mountain golf course. The course wraps around the mountain and offers a variety if shots. The views are outstanding offering a great opportunity to spot wildlife. Worth going to at least once.

This is a golf course my husband and myself have been several times. we have never been disappointed. Its tucked into the hills of West Virginia and the beauty is always hard to pass on a photo opp. Some holes can be very unforgiving. But if your not afraid to loose afew balls it can be very enjoyable. With deals on a golf package $99 room, golf and breakfast. We went early Sept, weather can be some what iffy with cool mornings. Closing date for course is aboutOct 16 they shut down in preparation for ski season. This is a reknown Gary Player signature course one not to miss.

I've played a lot of mountain golf, and this one is one of the best. Great views of thesurrounding mountains, and some good ups and downs on the course. The first par 3 has a good 150 foot drop. It only plays about 125yds, but interesting with the dropoff. Great conditions, nice clubhouse with pretty good breakfast. Bring food andbeer! Weather was nice, even for mid July. It was in the mid to high 70's. Will definitely go back soon.....
