I love this place, we recently stayed at snowcrest and visited the village when not skiing. Everything here is wonderful. Only downfall is no cell service or WiFi Internet.

On 02/21/2015, our check-out day, we have discovered that the Expedition Station parking lot where we had our cars had not been plowed at all. It was snowing heavily for about 10 hours before and needless to say, not a single vehicle could get out from that lot on that day. It was obvious at that time that we will be forced to stay one additional night at the resort. After multiple calls to the front desk to try to find out when the lot will be cleaned so we can actually leave, we were told that we need to check out no matter what. Yet it was clear that we could not drive home since our cars were buried under a few feet of snow. At that point our friends already checked out and couldn't go back to their room. And since we haven’t yet, all 7 people gathered up in the room with max occupancy of 4. At no time did the resort offered any assistance to us. Basically we stood our ground and told them that we are not going on the street with 3 little kids. That was the only way to at least spend that night in more or less decent conditions. One bathroom, 2 beds for 7 people, and yet we got charged a weekend rate – $316.00 (almost double for what we have paid for each prior day). Since we went nowhere with the customer service - we have disputed that charge with our VISA.One more thing. After we have returned home, the next day we have discovered 5 fraudulent charges on our VISA. We have used it to pay for the lodging and at a few restaurants in the Village. Ended up closing the card and requesting a new one. Most definitely – the credit card information was stolen at one of those establishments. Beware. Even though the actual skiing was good, because of the described above facts, our experience at the SS this year was a big disappointment at the least. Very unlikely we will return. Do not recommend.

The mid-west has plenty of ski hills that are fun, but of course there is nothing like heading west to the real mountains. Snowshoe, as an alternative, is perfectly in between the two. Midwestern resorts have a vertical drop on average of 500ft, and the big resorts out west have an average of 3,000ft. Snowshoe is right in the middle at 1,500 vertical feet. It's probably the best resort that is available to us mid-westerners within a reasonable driving distance. The village has a nice variety of restaurants and shops as well.

Snowshoe resort is rather isolated and there are no nearby towns so dining and recreation options are extremely limited. When the weather is good, skiing is always available, but there's not much else to do. We did enjoy the tubing park but didn't want to do it more than once. And on a rainy day, I took my daughter to the Big Top arcade. It was fun but only occupied about 2 hours of our day and there were no other rainy day options. Given how remote the resort is, they need additional options for activities.

I chose to come here and work for the winter with my boyfriend. I have never been so disappointed at a resort in my life. The housing is poor,most of the staff is incompatent and rude, and everything is overpriced. I couldn't believe the way the mountain didn't make employees a priority . There is no cell service anywhere on the mountain. They won't let us use wifi in our housing. Someone brought a router and HR cut our internet off for two weeks. We had to travel an hour away to get a Ethernet cord to hook up into our laptop . Half of the time the connection is messed up so we can't even use it . The phones in our rooms and work won't let us call out so I can't call my family. My computer at work is blocked from everything. Only supervisors have codes to be able to call out . I will never come back here to work or on vacation

We decided to make a last minute trip back up to Snowshoe - only our 2nd time here. It's about a 4 hr drive from the Pittsburgh area. The conditions were excellent for most of the day. We stayed in the Expedition and had no complaints. Like other reviewers stated, bring food and drinks with you. You are basically in the middle of nowhere with no grocery stores or convenience stores around short of getting in your car and driving to the nearest town (that will take a while). This was our first experience in trying out some of the restaurants in the village. The food was good, but could have been better. Shops are nice, but look for sales because many items are overpriced compared to back home. Definitely one of the best ski resorts I've visited. It is challenging but there is enough for skiers of all abilities!

How good it is is dependent on when you come. Unlike west coast or central state spring skiing, it can be very rainy here when it gets warm. The mountain offers a good number of long green runs and blue runs. Skiing in the winter time must be great. Another limitation is that there is nothing else to do nearby. Very few restaurants or shopping options outside of the village. Check your weather forecast before you go. Bring things you can cook with you.

Snowshoe Mountain Resort has great lifts, good east coast trails, mostly helpful staff, and decent rentals. Lines get a little long on weekends.

I have only been skiing for a few years but Snowshoe is by far the best skiing I have encountered. The mountain is a little intimidating at first when you realize you have to actually read the map and take the right trails/take a bus to end up at the right place sometimes, but once you get comfortable with it, that's a good thing because of all the variety it offers. Advanced skiers will enjoy some of the more challenging routes, while beginner/intermediate skiers have a wide range of green and blue slopes on which to practice and grow their skill set. If you stay anywhere at the resort, you can just take the shuttle to the slopes, so even the "far" places are super close by. There is night skiing as well which I believe is included in your day pass. There are also lots of restaurants in the village (including a Starbucks, thank heavens) and they have concerts many weekends. One thing I would change is that there is absolutely NO cell service. While it's nice to have a quiet weekend without everyone glued to their phones, it can be difficult to find other people on the mountain. I noticed that some families brought walkie-talkies and will try this next time.

We decided to take a last minute trip to Snowshoe for a weekend (Feb 27-March 1) as we are passholders at another Intrawest resort (Steamboat) and had "snow bucks" to use. I will review lodging and food in a separate review and stick to the skiing here. We were blessed with a beautiful day Saturday, perfect skiing weather sunny around 25-30 degrees absolutley perfect and consequently we shared the mountain with half of the East Coast seemingly! My husband has a ski ap on his phone. In 6 hours we spent 1.5hr going up the lift, 1.5hr going down and 3hr "resting" aka standing in line. Now about 45 minutes of that was a break to grab a bite. But it was still more time "resting" than anything else. Although they had lift operators directing traffic and loading the lifts, it was still unbearably slow. On this busy Saturday the lane ropes did not extend far enough to direct all the people and was always a huge cluster mess at the base. As mentioned in several reviews the lifts are slow, slow and slower. The lift that takes you up to the Western Territory has a counterweight. I was also dismayed that smoking is permitted in the liftlines and on the lifts. My other complaint is the lack of public restrooms. There are some in the Village but going back to my condo was faster than that. Otherwise you had to patronize a shop to use the facilities. We found a great pastry shop on the way to the Western Territory, and it worked out fine but it is ridiculous there are no bathrooms to be had. The 4 of us are all good skiers, the kids (12&10) and husband are experts and I am a solid intermediate. The runs are varied and the terrain parks were fun for the kids. There is a little bit of everything even a tree run and some moguls. We did not get over to the Silver Creek area but skied the rest of the mountain. We particularly enjoyed the Soaring Eagle area and the Western Territory. I think it is a little expensive for what you get. Lift tickets were about $620 for the 4 of us for 2 days. On the otherhand, it is the most accessible resort with the best terrain from Ohio.

We were there Feb 25th-Feb 28th. Powder day on the 27th! Western Territory is THE TRUTH. It's as good as many spots in Colorado and Utah without as much vertical. Runs are steep and no bad cat walks which are energy suckers for snowboarders. Tree riding is o.k. but not Steamboat or Vail. The best east coast I have seen.

The snow/ski conditions were incredible and this is a first class East Coast ski resort. The number and condition of trails for all skill levels, high speed lifts, equipment, and other considerations were top notch. Even for a novice skier like myself, this was an excellent choice for a late winter vacation. Be careful when making reservations for accommodations, the "Murphy" bed we found in our original room was quite a surprise considering we would be in this "junior" suite in Rimfire for four nights. Fortunately the staff was very helpful an accommodating in helping upgrade us to a room with separate bedroom.

We recently skied for two days at Snowshoe and loved the slopes! Great for beginners and also advanced black diamond skiers. We sent our 5 year old to ski school and they took very good care of him and even helped to build up his confidence. He skied a green circle! There are so many slopes to choose from. We had an awesome snowstorm while there, so we skied in powder all day. When we went out the next day the slopes were perfectly groomed. THANK YOU SNOWSHOE!!One negative about snowshoe....they do not offer night skiing, so you're done at 4:30. Way too early. However, you can go to their nearby sister ski resort Silver Creek and ski into the night. Snowshoe offers free shuttle to and from Silver Creek. OVERALL: good times and we will go back!

Snowshoe is the best ski resort in the mid-atlantic regions. They have the most runs, the most vertical drop, the most varied terrain and the best resort atmosphere. The only problems with snowshoe is it's proximity to anything- it's a long drive, their fairly high cost for lift tickets and lodging, and their tendency to get very crowded on holiday weekend. All that said, Snowshoe is the best place to go skiing if you can't make it out west or to New England.
