castle and carriage house

This is a must see when driving thru White Sulphur Springs. It's not only an interestingly built house, but is filled with local history and the docent was a local woman with a vast knowledge of the local history…it was very interesting and my whole family was inthralled!

Enjoyed our tour by a very knowledgeable person and the carriage house was full of very interesting local artifacts, worth the price of admission.

The castle itself is very interesting, probably more so to me as it is a part of my family heritage. It was clean and the displays were nice. The tour guide seemed to rush us through and didn't give hardly any history nor did she seem interested herself. I know minimal information about the castle's builder Byron Sherman, and I could have told a lot more than she did. Also...I don't understand why this museum is hands on but your not allowed to take photos. I would encourage people to go see it as it is an awesome display of it's era.

We love to soak in the hot springs in town and when wandering around the streets of this small town decided to tour the house. Evidence of some real money in this town, built before electricity other that which was made at home.The Castles and the Belts are interesting local mountains. Lots of history about the area in this museum. Worthwhile.

The history of the Castle Mansion is interesting from the basement (the dungeon) to the second floor. From the time it was built in 1892 until it was split up into apartments for a short time in the 60's, to when it was finally turned into the museum of the past it is today, it has a rich history to explore. The view from the second story windows is breathtaking and you can see the whole town of White Sulphur Springs from there. They have a rich selection of antiques from household items to war paraphernalia. If you enjoy looking at antiques and strolling into the past, you'll enjoy the richness of the Castle Mansion.

Interesting place and lots of history. Ladies very helpful and informative Not hard to find as you can see it perched on the hill from most places in White Sulphur Springs, giving it a fabulous 360 degree outlook. Museum was interesting. Can just imagine the old families having lived there and the life they lead. wll worth the $5 dollar entrance fee
