Drive up to the location, but door had a closed sign on it. Manager allowed us to peek out head in to see the main floor. Very friendly. Would imagine this is a very enjoyable place to visit in-season.

I have always loved the Mountain Homeplace. It is truly beautiful and takes you back in time. It is ran mostly by volunteers, and could really use a boost in tourism. It's a awesome experience for kids, with the animals, gardens, and history. Everyone is very friendly and helpful....also patient with the little ones.

Gift shop was rather expensive and buildings were all out back and too far for me to walk and no one offered a tour we just looked around and left as we were tired and was getting hot in the afternoon.

We live locally, so we spend alot of time at Paintsville Lake. We got married there. Mountain Homeplace is a beautiful place to go hiking, or observe many of the animals. They sponser a great Haunted Trail for Halloween, and often have plays or concerts featuring local talent. Good place for wholesome family fun and great for picture taking.

A working farm from the 1850's that shows how rugged life used to be. Its an amazing look back into time and every visit, you will see or hear something new. Its a very easy foot tour with local parking.
